- Students will be sitting on the floor during this portion of the lesson
- Tell students we are going to play a version of musical hula hoops and remind students
that they have played musical hula hoops with Mrs. Bedford already
o Tell them that there will be hula hoops all around the room
o When the music is playing everyone has to dance around the room
2
o When the music stops they will hear a number being shouted out
o That number is the amount of people that can go into one hula hoop
o So if the music stops and you hear the number 3 only 3 students can go into one
hula hoop
o If the music stops and you aren’t in a hula-hoop you have to do 10 jumping jacks
- Ask students to put a thumbs up if they understand how to play and a thumbs down if
they still don’t quite understand how to play
o Give an example if majority of students don’t understand
o If students understand tell everyone to spread out in the room and wait until they
hear the music start
Body (time): 14 minutes
- While students are dancing turn the music on and off and yell a number each time the
music is turned off
o Watch to make sure students do their challenge if they get caught outside a hula
hoop
Closure/ Reflection (time): 1 minute
- Get students attention with 5,4,3,2,1 or 3,2,1 turtle
- Ask students for some volunteers to collect all the hula hoops and bring them up to the
