CHAPTER I

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

Women capabilit y in managing a business and its impact to the

organizational performance. It will discuss the functions of women in terms of

managing a business like the skills they have and the strategies they used to

function their business effectivel y. And also this study will discuss the different

methods of managerial skills that managers do in the organization and its effect

on their field.

This study focused on the women's abilit y in the town of Orani and to

share this abilit y to the other people who wants to build their own business and

also to improve and understand the importance of having skills in negotiating a

business. This study can help all womens to have an idea on what are the

effective skills or strategies they need to know to function their business

effectivel y. This study also contributes relevant informations about manager ial

skills and its impact on the business performance particularl y the skills of

women in terms of managing human resources.

In this study, researchers want to answer the effectiveness of women as a

manager and its impact to the organizational performance . The purpose of this
study is to give information to all business owner most especially to women to

have unique abilities on how business works, to learn or inspired from other

business owner and also to improve and to try something that can help their

business succeed.

Background of the Study

There are certain set of skills that managers should acquire for the

effectivit y of the organization or a business just like the skill in planning,

organizing, controlling and of course directing and the main purpo se of a

manager is to lead and push everyone in the field in accomplishing the goals

through the use of the proper and effective skills. In today's business

situational, the managers are the one responsible for success of the business and

as well as for failure. So the managers play a big role inside the business they

handles big responsibilities. And the effects or the effectiveness of managerial

abilit y is a very important aspect for the successful performance. Now a day's

topic is about women being prese nt in different jobs and women as a manager

became the interest topic in the present decade.

The purpose of this study is to conduct a good research about the

effectiveness of women as a manager and its impact on the organization

performance, to provide r eliable information that anyone could look up to, and

to give awareness to every women that they have natural skills in managing
many things, events and people. And also, the purpose of this study is to help

every manager in terms of giving them an idea ab out the right skills and

methods in handling things smoothl y and to lead the business in success. This

study will give a lot of information mostl y about the skills of women and

managers because this study aims to examine the relationship between women's

managerial effectiveness and its impact by the use of the different skills.

The main focus of this study is to provide information about women's

capabilit y as a manger and its effect and impact to the business. This study will

also contribute relevant infor mation about the leadership, skills, method and

techniques that woman use to satisfy the business and also the costumers. Every

organization has its own manager and the business' success depends on the

managerial abilit y of the manager, on how to assess, h andle, inspire and

motivate her people. Every organization need at least one person that will stand

out and lead for the betterment of the business and many studies claimed that

women are suitable in leading and managing, the effectiveness of women skills

are accurate in an organization.

According to the study of Catal yst eighty seven percent (87%) of global

businesses have at least one woman in a senior management role in 2019 the

study shows that women are capable in being a manager because of the high

percentage in global business. It's interesting that women are stepping out of

their comfort zone called home. In the last decade women skills are just for

their house and inside their famil y, doing house chores and taking care of their
children but in today's generation we often see women in different fields making

a name.

Both gender has a capabilit y of being a manager because it is not just

about the gender, it's about how well you perform various of task and it is based

on the abilit y to manage the thin gs in a diverse situation and on taking the right

decision in terms of productivit y and profitabilit y and also other managerial

skills. But on the other hand, being women gives advantages to do the task

reall y better. Women as a manager needs a high qualit y skill to make the

organization successful but there are natural women abilit y that should be

present when engaging in managerial business. Their abilit y to solve different

problems is just one of the advantages and as well as their patients, calmness

and courage in doing different works.

Statement of the Problem

This study mainl y focused to the effectiveness of Women's Managers and

its impact on Organizational Performance in the town of Orani. Specificall y it

sought to answer the following questions.

1. What are the profiles of the respondents in terms of:

1.1 Age

1.2 Business
1.3 Status

2. What are the ways of women in managing a business in the town of Orani?

3. How this ways or strategies help a business?

4. What are the skills of women for you to say that they are capable in managing

a business?

5. How this strategy or skills of Women affect on the Organizational

Performance?

Significance of the Study

The effectiveness of women's as managers and its impact on

organizational performance in the town of Orani, Bataan. It will benefit the

following:

Business Owner- This study will help them know how effective the women's as

manager, in terms of skills, tec hniques and decision -making.

Employee- This study will benefit the employees to have an idea that they can

also have an promotion and go to higher position and use this as an motivation.
Women- This study will benefit them to have awareness on how their decisions,

skills, and techniques will affect their future businesses. To inspire them that

they have a capability as a manager.

Readers- This study will support the readers to gain enough knowledge about

the effectiveness of women's as managers and also on how it affects the

organizational performance. And this study can also serve as motivate to step

out to their comport zone that they can be higher than where they are right now.

Future Researchers - This study will serve the future researchers as their basis

of their study and additional literature for their future investigations.

Assumption

The researchers assume that at the end of this study it will answer the main

focus of this research specificall y the effectivene ss of women as managers and

its impact on organizational performance in the town of Orani, Bataan. And

researchers also assume that this study will provide a lot of information about

managerial strategies and skill that should be perform in business field.


Scope and Limitations

The data will be taken all the women as managers in the town of Orani,

Bataan. Each women manager will be selected and ask according to our

questionnaire. It’s focused onl y to the capabilit y of women's manager in

handling a business like what are the skills and strategies they used and what

are the impact of this strategies and skills of women to the organizational

performance of the town. This study had started at the last quarter of 2019 and

assumed that will end at the first quarter of the year 2020.

Definition of Terms

1. Skills - Talent of women to manage their business.

-The abilit y to do something that comes from training, experience, or

practice

2. Women - Women as manager of their business.

-A woman who has a specified job or position and all women thought of

as a group
3. Manager- Someone who is in charge of a business, department, etc.

4. Effectiveness - The result of business to manage of women.

-Producing a result that is wanted and having an intended effect of a law,

rule, etc.

5. Leadership - Women who lead a business

- A position as a leader of a group, organization, etc.

6. Organizational - The act or process of putting the different parts of

something in a certain order so that they can be found or used easil y

7. Success - Accomplishment of women as a manager of their business.

- The fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame -The

accomplishment of one's goals, the attainment of wealth, position and honors

8. Orani Bataan - In Orani Bataan we will conduct our research

-Orani is a coastal municipalit y in the province of Bataan, Central Luzon

region (Region III), Philippines.

-Orani, officiall y the Municipalit y of Orani, is a 1st class municipalit y in

the province of Bataan, Philippines.
