As a volunteer with the Children’s Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Service you will come
into contact with vulnerable children. The broad definition of a ‘vulnerable child’ is a young

age or illness and who is or may be unable to take care of him or herself, or unable to protect
him or herself against significant harm or exploitation.” We therefore have a responsibility to
ensure your suitability to volunteer. The department reserves the right to contact all previous
organisations where you have worked in a paid or unpaid capacity.

PREVIOUS EMPLOYMENT

Please give details of any paid or voluntary work undertaken in the last 10 years ,especially
where relevant to this role:
Use extra pages if necessary

I volunteered in prison in Cork while l lived in Ireland last year. My role was to serve tea
and coffee to the families of prisoners and share the information about the organization
that was providing advice and help to the families. I was with them 3 months after l moved
to UK.
Few months ago l applied for volunteering in prison in UK. I passed many interviews and l
was invited to do 3 visits in prison. The only reason why l did not like this role was the fact
that everything was based on religion. We were supposed to talk with prisoners to accept
Jesus Christ which was unacceptable to me.
I have seen it as using vunerable prisoners to impose certain dogma on them. I
expressed myself straight away about the subject and l was not called by the preacher to
continue with the role.
