REPAIR , RETROFITTING AND SOIL STABILISATION

METHODOLOGY FOR GROUTED NAILING WORKS ( To be read in

conjunction with the drawing S-T09-EX0002 R1 TO EX0009 R1 dt 04-
11-19 )

1. On completion of driven nails and shortcreting up to 4 M, further soil shall be

excavated to a depth of not more than 1.3 M and leveled to facilitate grouted nail works.

2. Welded mesh of 75 mm x 75 mm x 4.2 mm shall be fixed by on the exposed soil

surface. The transition area i.e., driven nail to grouted nail joint shall be lapped to 300
mm where as in other area ( both horizontal and vertical ) the lap shall be 150 mm.

3. The grouted nail points shall be marked 800 mm below last row of the driven nail.

4. The spacing of grouted nail shall be 1.60 m in –x- direction.

5. The wagon drill machine synchronized with the compressor shall be positioned so
that the inclination of drill shall be 15 degrees. This can be checked by a protractor
placed on the mast of the drill machine.
Inci - Retrofit

6. Drilling shall be done to a diameter of 150 mm and the length shall be 8 m.

7. Once the drilling is done, the anchor bar ( reinforcement steel ) of 25 mm dia shall
be placed inside the hole. The anchor bars shall be provided with spacers (cover block)
of 50 mm thick on wither side of bars.

8. The spacers will help to have a uniform grouting all around, It is not advisable to put
the spacers to block the entry of grout.

9. The spacers shall be kept at every 2 m interval i.e., for a 8 m bars it shall be in 3
locations.

 10. Once the bar is placed in position, grouting shall be done by a grouting
machine with neat cement slurry with w/c 0.42 to 0.45 depends on the
flowability. ( For example water cement ratio 0.42 means o.42x50 = 21 lit /bag
of cement and water shall be added using a measuring jar or marked in a bucket
accordingly)

11. The annular space around the bars shall be grouted with cement slurry
mixed with non-shrink grout admixture from reputed manufacturer say Cebex 100
from Fosroc or equivalent as per the manufacturer recommendation and
generally it will be 225 gms per bag of 50 kg cement grade 43 ). Pl take care that
cement and admixture used within its shelf life.

12. The pressure of grout shall be very nominal say 1 bar ( kg. sqcm)

13. 50 mm tk Shotcrete shall follow the above operation as per the earlier
practice.

14. The Fabricated MS plate of size 350 x 350 x 12 mm tk shall be welded with
anchor bars as per drawing.

15. Two ISMC 100 of 350 mm length shall be welded with the rebar and MS
plate as per the drawing.

16. The gap between the MS plate and shotcrete shall be further filled with
shotcrete to have proper contact surface.

17. Further excavation shall be done not more than 2 M and the drilling shall be
done at 1.60 m from the previous layer. The Horizontal spacing shall be 1.60 m
but staggered.

18. The procedure repeated for another 2 layers except the last layer wherein
the rebar shall be of 32 mm dia.

19. Curing shall be done for a week after shotcreting.
