New features for Base

Generate a high resolution image on the Model View Palette

Generate a high definition resolution image, even when the saved NX thumbnail was saved at a lower
resolution, by selecting the Allow regeneration of NX images checkbox on the Model View page
or the Model View Palette.
To use this new feature, the UGII_GENERATE_MULTI_CAD_JT System Environment Variable
must be set to 1.

Automatically switch to the PMI tab

To reduce mouse-clicks and for ease of use, the Automatically switch to PMI tab checkbox allows
you to determine if the application automatically switches to the PMI page when either Show PMI or
Toggle in PMI Tree is selected from the context menu.

Define a nonselectable background

As an administrator, to ensure users can't accidentally pick a background environment or move a
background object in immersive mode, place the TcVis_Concept_Background_Geom property on
both the instance and part nodes. The proper syntax is TcVis_Concept_Background_Geom = True.

New features for Standard

Improved leader line functionality

Adding multiple leaders lines to anchored text and anchored inset image markups has been
simplified, allowing the user to add multiple leader lines with fewer mouse clicks. The following
apply to add leader mode:
• Select Add Leader from the context menu to enter add leader mode. Continue selecting parts
to add more leader lines.

Capítulo 2: What's new in Manufacturing

General enhancements in Teamcenter Manufacturing

• You can import a vendor catalog item to the correct Manufacturing Resource Library class in the
Generic Tool Catalog (GTC) and include the vendor connection code data.

• Importing vendor tools with 3D geometry is now easier beginning in Teamcenter 12.2. The
STEP file format has been enhanced to remove the master cutter provided by the vendor, which
is not likely to be what you need.

• In a bill of process (BOP) or isolated study structure, you can now synchronize to a study or
publish selected process stations or operations from a study. Previously, you could update
structures as a collective whole only.

• To save time and reduce possible errors, you can now propagate multiple alternative structures
contained in a collaboration context (CC) to a bill of equipment (BOE) and BOP in a production
environment.

• To extend collaboration context integration between original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and
supplier environments, OEMs can now communicate between a Teamcenter Manufacturing
server and Process Simulate, and suppliers can communicate between a Tecnomatix eMServer
and Process Simulate.

Synchronizing NX CAM and Teamcenter custom user tooling data

You can now define your own custom attributes to be synchronized between NX CAM and
Teamcenter, such as pocket ID, tool description, technology data, and adjust register. Teamcenter
stores specific values for each tool used in NX CAM. In previous releases, only a fixed list of attributes
(cutter_tag, cutter_name, tool_libref, cutting_time_used, and mom_cutting_time) was supported by
the synchronization procedure, but now you can synchronize up to fifteen custom properties that
are stored with the MENCToolActivity attribute of a CAM setup.

PMI enhancements
• When parts and objects are configured to be hidden or shown from the Graphics view using
occurrence effectivity settings, assembly-level Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) callouts
attached to those parts and objects are also hidden or shown.

• Setting the new preference Mci0ExtractPatternPMI to true allows you to extract a Geometric
Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) composite callout for multiple features associated to the
same callout, as defined by a pattern of patterns (for example, 4X for a pattern of hole features).
This preference also applies to composite linear dimensions.

Microservice Framework support for Access Controls and

Requirements Management
In order to run Access Controls and Requirements Management in Active Workspace, you must
install the Teamcenter Microservice Framework.
With the framework, you can configure multiple replicas of application microservices. The replicas
can be deployed across a set of machines for scalability and redundancy.
Use Deployment Center to configure Microservice Framework installation and generate microservice
node deployment scripts. The Teamcenter Microservice Framework kit is an individual download.
Microservice Framework cannot be installed using Teamcenter Environment Manager. Installation of
Microservice Framework is described in the Deployment Center help.
Microservice framework nodes can be installed on either a Linux or Windows host. All microservice
nodes within an environment must run on the same OS type. Your choice of host OS type for the
microservice nodes is independent of whether your Teamcenter web-tier architecture is Java EE or
.NET.

Dashboard enhancements
The simulation dashboard provides a clear view of the status of all the models and analyses carried
out by simulation analysts at the program, milestone, group, or individual user level. The dashboard
has been enhanced to:
• Monitor key performance indicator (KPI) values such as maximum stress, minimum temperature,
and maximum displacement from an analysis revision or an analysis template.

• Highlight ambiguous files.

• Support editing of item revision attribute values.

Search enhancements
You can perform an advanced search to locate the data required for the simulation analysis using
the following new queries:
• CAE – Find Single-Level Related Model or CAE – Find Single-Level Related Analysis can be
used to find all associated models or analyses of a specific product item revision. In the CAD
Item Revision ID query field, you can type a question mark (?) to query for all the CAE models or
analyses generated on the latest revision rather than all revisions.

• CAE – Find Multi-Level Related Models or CAE – Find Multi-Level Related Analysis can
be used to find all associated models or analyses for the selected CAD at the component,
subassembly, and variant levels. You can use this query to identify all models or analyses
impacted by the design change of a product item revision.

Import the sample data

After you install the Simulation Process Management template on a virtual machine or a sandbox
environment, you can run scripts to quickly set up sample configurations. This provides an easy setup
for presales or customers who want to explore the Simulation Process Management capabilities.
Users, particularly from sales and presales, can now use the Import CAE Data command to import
shared CAE data packages containing sample data from selected folders.

Verify briefcase data before importing or exporting

Avoid accidentally importing unexpected data and subsequent import errors and costly data corruption
by validating low-level TC XML in briefcase files.
The new briefcase_validator utility lets you quickly analyze briefcase data before importing and
committing the data, minimizing import errors and reducing the need to re-import data. The utility
validates the low-level TC XML in an existing briefcase file, generating a report listing errors and
warnings.
To help ensure data integrity at the export phase, the tcxml_export utility offers the following new
options:
-dryrun
Performs a simulated low-level briefcase export run, validating the exported TC XML before or
after the simulated run. No briefcase file is created.
-validate
Validates the low-level briefcase before or after exporting it. If no warnings or errors are detected,
a briefcase file is created. If errors are detected in the TC XML, they are reported and no
briefcase file is created.

How you can help make Teamcenter better

The terms of the Siemens PLM Software Product Excellence Program have been updated for
Teamcenter 12.2 to clarify the types of data the program collects. You have the option to participate in
the Product Excellence Program during installation of Teamcenter and Active Workspace.

Privacy statement
The Product Excellence Program helps Siemens PLM Software understand how customers use our
products and assists us in improving our products. The program is anonymous and participation is
voluntary.
The Product Excellence Program is designed to protect the privacy of the user and the intellectual
property created through the use of Siemens PLM Software products.

How does it work?

The Product Excellence Program is used to collect data about your installation, the features you use
and how you use them. The data is sent to Siemens PLM Software for analysis. By examining usage
patterns from a large number of people, we gain insight into how the products are used and how to
improve the software in future releases. Data collection occurs in the background as you use the
software and does not affect performance or functionality.

What data is sent?

The data collected can vary by product and by release as we gain more insight or add new
capabilities. The Product Excellence Program may collect information on the functions utilized, the
