Installation Guide for DARA L Box

Attention!
1. Turn power off before inspection, installation or removal.
2. Properly ground electrical enclosure.
3. Follow all IEC and local building codes.
4. Do not operate the device with damaged parts.
5. Please see technical data sheet for electrical properties to ensure safe installation.
6. The grounding and bonding of the overall system shall be done in accordance to local
electric code of the country where the luminaire is installed.
7. For indoor use, only.
8. Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in compliance with these
instructions and applicable standards.
NOTE !
The antenna of the device, marked with the sign on the box, should always be oriented
towards the room. The antenna must not be oriented towards the ceiling, if top mounted,
nor towards the floor if mounted less than 1,5 m / 5 ft high.

Download
DARA Lighting
application

Start by downloading DARA Lighting mobile app from App Store (for iOS)
or Google Play Store (for Android). The app is free for download.
Scan for iOS download Scan for Android download
The application can run on mobile phone or tablets, minimal requirements are:
iOS Android
iOS version 10 or newer, iPhone SE Android version 5.0.0 Lollipop or newer Mobile
iPhone 6 or newer, iPad 3 or newer devices with Bluetooth 4.2 or newer
Recommended for optimal performance: Bluetooth 5 compatible devices
We are constantly working to expand our compatibility list. For latest updates please check our website: www.daraapp.com
For now, the following devices are not supported:

Huawei mobile devices, Samsung Note 4 or older, Samsung Galaxy S6 or older

Enable Bluetooth on you device
Once the app has downloaded, ensure that Bluetooth® is enabled on your device.
If you’re unsure, follow the steps below for an iOS or Android device.
For iOS Devices:
1. On your iOS device, tap Settings > Bluetooth.

2. Tap the switch to turn Bluetooth On.
3. Once complete, look for the Bluetooth icon in the status bar of your
device.
4. You can also e nable Bluetooth from the Control Center by tapping
the Bluetooth Icon.
For Android Devices:
1. Open your device’s Settings menu.

2. Under “Wireless & networks”, touch Bluetooth.
3. Touch the switch to turn Bluetooth On or Off.
4. A Bluetooth icon at the top of your screen will indicate when Blue
tooth is turned on.
5. You can also enable Bluetooth from the Quick Settings menu by
tapping the Bluetooth Icon.

DARA Lighting account
It’s your first time using DARA Lighting mobile app?

Follow the steps below to create a new user account:
1. Download DARA Lighting mobile app.

2. Tap on the “Sign up” link at the bottom of the sign in page.
3. Enter your information: your email address as login user, choose a password, and confirm your password.
4. Once complete, tap on the “Sign up” button.
5. Read and agree to the terms and conditions before using DARA Lighting mobile app.
6. Your profile is now complete.
7. Check your e-mail. You can always contact us if you have any question.
You already have an account?

Follow the steps below:
1. Use your email address and password to log in to DARA Lighting mobile app.
2. You can also use your Facebook or Google account to sign in.
3. Once you’ve successfully logged in, you’ll see the networks you have access to, listed on the network screen.
4. To access a particular network, tap on its name.

After installing DARA Lighting App, you need to create or connect to your network.
Before going forward with the setup, please make sure that your DARA devices are installed and powered.
1. To add a new network, tap on the “+ Add New Network” button. The app will begin to scan for new devices.
2. Scanning for new networks can take a while, so please be patient. When the scan is completed, you will be notified.
3. In case no new networks are detected, the search will return a message. Please re-check if your devices
are properly installed and powered, then push “Retry” when you’re ready to search again.
4. If the new network is found, you will be asked to scan your DARA device id (QR code) in order to register
your network.
a. Tap “Scan ID” to begin scanning your network ID.

b. Your network ID is the QR code received along with your DARA devices.
c. If scanning your network ID produces an error, please check the following:
- If the network is powered up and the device being scanned is on.
- If the QR code you are trying to scan is the correct one, corresponding to your network.
5, Once your network is registered, you will be asked to input the Network’s name. Tap the “Name” field to activate the
keyboard and input a value.
6, When ready, hit “Create Network”. The application will register the network and start discovering the DARA devices.
7, Your network is now ready and you will be redirected to the main screen where all existing networks are displayed.
Tap your network’s name to connect to it.

Add a new device

To add a new device to your network, go to “Settings” >> “Devices”

and tap the “Add new device” button.
1. The app will start scanning the network to identify new devices.
2. Once a new device is found, you will be notified and instructed to scan the DARA device id (QR code) in order to add
the device to the network.
3. Tap “Scan ID” to begin scanning your network ID. This is the QR code received along with your DARA devices.
4. After the QR code is successfully scanned, the “Add devices to Network” button becomes active. Tap it to complete
the process.
5. Adding devices can take a while, so please be patient and do not turn off the application.
If scanning your network ID produces an error, please check the following:
- If the network is powered up and the device being scanned is on.

- If the QR code you are trying to scan is the correct one, corresponding to your network.

Quick check

Before starting to manage your network’s lamps and groups, please follow these steps to ensure that everything is
properly set.
Dim or turn on/off all lamps.
1. From the Control screen, tap on the Groups tab.

2. In the bottom group list, tap “All”. This group is created by default and contains all lamps and sensors.
3. Tap on the cursor to activate it, then drag it to 100% and check if all lamps in the group light up.
Drag it back to 0% to turn them off.
4. Keep dimming the lamps on and off a couple of times to ensure all lamps respond correctly.
In case a lamp is not responding, please check first that the lamp is properly connected.
If this is the issue, please check the dimming for all lamps.
Reset all settings

After all lamps are checked and your network is properly set, go to “Settings”, choose “Network” and tap
“Reset all settings”. This action needs to be performed to allow the system to discover all lamp and sensor
types and to commision them with DARA.

Quick check
Check that all lamps and sensors are discovered
1. Once the “Reset all settings” has been performed, go to “Settings” and enter the “Groups & Lamps” menu.
2. The “All” group is created by default and contains all discovered devices with their lamps and sensors.
Please check that no lamps or sensors are missing from this group.
3. To easily identify a device, tap the symbol located in front of it. This will trigger all the lamps and sensors
connected to that device to flash for a few seconds.
4. Tap the device’s name to expand it and view all its lamps and sensors.
5. To easily identify a lamp or sensor, tap the symbol (or) located in front of it. This will trigger it to flash for a few
seconds.
Recommendation
1. Create a new group and add lamps from different devices to it.
2. Then go to the Control screen, select your new group and dim it on and off.
Check that all lamps are correctly responding.
