K1MDD1: Sort objects according to common properties.
Science: Sort and draw objects into two categories (natural and
man-made).

Subject: Integrated lesson.


On the 11 of November I taught my second teaching lesson in KG2-
2 in Alzaydya KG. The lesson was Integrated lesson because I
Combined between the 3 subjects. I used this outcome for English:
k2W. 1.1.3 Explore emergent writing for a variety of purposes
because the students will used to write and explore the words. On
the other way I used for Math : k2NS4: Count groups of up to 10
objects using one to one correspondence\ K1MDD1: Sort
objects according to common properties. because the students
will use to count object from 1-10 and I used sorting by shapes on my
introduction activity. I feel that I really did a great job more than my
first observation. Actually I used to teach the students when my MST
is absent but I feel it a little different but I really try to be the same
with and without a teacher. At the beginning I computer to warm up
and get the students attention to have good energy.
Introduction:
I started the lesson with saying to the students: Good morning Kg2-2
how are you today? Then I asked them about the day and the date. I
said for them: so yesterday was Sunday so what is the day today?
They told me So today is Monday. Then I asked them about the date,
and they answered me correctly. Then I asked them about the
weather because yesterday I was rainy. One student tells me that
yesterday was windy then I said for them yes, I was but after the wind
it was, and I showed them by my hands then they said for me that It
was rainy. After that I take the attendance and then I play to them the
days of the week song. The students were signing with me I used to
play the song for them to engage them and to make them feel excited
about the lesson. After that I had a small activity about sorting, I ask
the students to close their eyes and use their listening and guess
what is in the bag that I have. The bag was full of shapes and the
student didn’t guess what inside, so I tell them to open their eyes and
I choose one student to come over and put their hands in the bag
and touch and feel. So, the student tells me it is a square because
she was holding it. I asked the student to sort the shape that she has
in the right way. And she did in the right way. Then I used to choose
4-5 more students by closing my eyes and when they stop me, I
choose the student and all of them did it well but some of them didn’t
know the names of the shapes but the other students help them.

Activity time:
In my lesson I did 8 activities: writing- math- art- focus and science
and 3 extra incase If the students finished early. The first center was:
Writing center I put for the students a big square dish with a foam
and the students have a flash card with pictures and names which
starts with letter D. The second center was: Math I have I the middle
of the table a basket full of fruits and small basket with numbers (I
connected the story of this week with the math center)+ a work sheet,
the students will put the fruits according to the basket that they have
and then they will write on their sheets for example: number 2 with 2
fruits. I used to have cards with numbers to help the students with
writing the number. Until they finish all the work sheet and they must
write their name and the date. And the fourth center: is art and they
will create their own donuts with using different supplies. And the
fourth center is the focus which I will be with, on this center the
students will use have a spinner with names and pictures which
starts with letter D and the students will roll it and write the name and
draw the picture that they get when they roll the spinner. And the last
center is: Science, the science center was about sorting man-made
and natural things actually no student was there because the
students do not take the science lesson for this week. And the
additional actives which I create one of them was the introduction
which they sort by shapes. And the second one was a board where
they can put the sentence in the right way. And the last additional
activity is searching of the letter that they have for this week. and I
explain for the students each center and then I told them to go to
each center by the group’s levels.
Closing:
In the closing we had 4 students who come up and show their work
and they turn and talk, and each student share his ideas with his
friend. When they finish, we had science so I teach them about a new
lesson about science. To be hones I feel little confuse about how I
can teach KG2 man-made and natural in English but I try as much as
I can they I used little of my Arabic to make sure that the students get
the idea and they get it 60% and then I end up the lesson with the
sorting activity which were in the science center.
