Rationale Statement- Standard #8

Standard # and Title: Standard Eight: Instructional Strategies

i. Performances
(9) The teacher asks questions to stimulate discussion that serves different purposes (e.g.,
probing for learner understanding, helping learners articulate their ideas and thinking
processes, stimulating curiosity, and helping learners to question).

Artifact: Foundations of Education PLC Lesson Plan

Date of Completion: Spring 2019

Course Completed in: EDUC 212 Foundations of Education

Rationale Statement:

I am placing the Foundations of Education PLC Lesson Plan under standard eight as proof that
the lesson has the teacher prompt the class with questions that trigger conversation to cover
several facets. Student are asked a question that is meant to show the prior knowledge and
perceptions on the topic. This creates a discussion for the class as people can speak about their
common ideas and similar or different experiences. The second discussion question is meant to
show the evolution from the beginning of the lesson. Students can now use the information
given to them to articulate concepts of higher thinking.
