Learning links - What we’re doing these weeks 


The week of December 16th is gingerbread week. We made gingerbread babies and then 
they ran away. All academic areas were centered around gingerbread. We compared 
different gingerbread stories, we did gingerbread math and writing and so much more.

Look and Say word (AKA:  A word that Scholars should know just by looking at it.

Literacy connections: ​When you read with your Scholar, be sure to have 
them read the words that we have learned. Practice writing the words below. 
Scholars can follow along with your reading by pointing to the words as you 
read them. Make sure they point from left to right and move down the page. 
You can also figure out who the character is and where the character is in 
the story.   
 
Math connections: ​You can work with your Scholar on using positional 
words. Make it an I spy game! I spy something that is on top of the 
refrigerator. I spy something that is inside the closet. Work on addition and 
subtraction concepts.
