MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
• Black sharpies
• Sky Color by Peter H. Reynolds
• Pencils
• Pencil crayons
• Half a piece of paper (one per student)
• Scissors
• Glue
• Watercolour sky from previous lesson
PROCEDURE
Student Differentiation: Marble Challenge for the whole class. Direction cards for two students
who need encouragement to stay on task.
Introduction (time: 10 min)
I will read the book Sky Color to the class on the carpet and I will show the page we will be
recreating. Students will know that today they will draw themselves and glue their drawing onto
their sky.

Transition:
All students will move to their desks and I will have two students hand out the paper once
everyone is at their desk (popsicle sticks??).
I will tell the students to grab their pencil when they get to their desk.
Body (time: 35 min)
Once students have their paper and pencil in hand (verbal “check”) I will begin giving
instructions for drawing.
Rayanne Becker

Rectangle body, two longer rectangle legs, two feet, circle head, hair and arms away from their
sides. Eyes can be closes or open.
Once students have finished drawing, they can begin to colour.
As students are colouring, I will hand out their watercolour skies from the first lesson.

I will ask students to “stick em’ up” and give them the instructions that they can cut out their
person (cut right around and close to their drawing – possibly use a student’s as an example) and
glue it onto their sky.

When students are finished, they can write their name on their sky in black sharpie.
Closure (time: 15 min)
Students who finish early can clean their spot and read at their desks.
Students can then eat snack and get ready for recess.
TARGET
Classroom management and giving students corrective instruction through positive statements.
