Dear Watertown Community:

This aftemoon, administrators from the Watertown City School District were informed that
threatening messages alluding to a future date were written on stalls within boys' bathrooms at
Watertown High School. A joint investigation with the Watertolvn Crty Police Department began
immediately. Upon investigating the incident, individuals responsible for writing the threatening
messages were identified, and appropriate actions in accordance with the District Code of
Conduct were taken. The District continues to work with law enforcement to determine potential
charges.

To ensure the safety of students and staff, the building has been swept by K-9 units from the
New York State Police, Jefferson County Sheriff s Departrnent, and SUNY Monisville. The
entire building has been deemed clear and safe.

We would like to thank the Watertown City Police Department, the New York State Police, the
Jefferson County Sheriff s Department, and STINY Monisville for their efforts and assistance
with this situation. As always, safety is a top priority within all of our schools and buildings in
the Watertown City School District.

Y,
