The leaving of employees does not take place at once but it is a step by step disengagement
process which occurs on the basis of 7 hidden reasons. Following is brief summary of the 7
hidden reasons employees leave.

Reason # 1: Most of the times an employee who is a fresh graduate is not clear about what he
expects from the employer. He is attracted by the colorful job description but when he joins, the
job fails to meet his expectations. In the similar way companies are also not sure of what they
expect from the employee or they expect too much from an ideal employee. In both the cases the
idea compounds the problem which results in disengagements and eventually leaving the job. In
order to overcome this problem the company must preview an actual image of the company by
frankly guiding the employee about the nature of his job, the management system and the
company’s policies.

Reason # 2: The differences between the nature of the job and the nature of the employee makes
it difficult for him to continue. There should be a step by step vigorous interview process through
which we could examine the psyche of the employee and match it with the nature of the job.

Reason # 3: If an employee is not sure about the accuracy of the tasks he is performing and the
employer is reluctant to supervise his tasks, the results may lead to a devastating loss for the
company and for the employee. These are very basic questions an employee should know the
answers of that how is the company going, what are the goals of the company, what
contributions does the company expect from him, and how is he doing.

Reason # 4: An employee constantly seeks growth in his career. If his career is allowed to grow
within the company then he won’t have to switch jobs to seek that growth. Thus the hierarchy
should be designed in such a way that competent and hard working employees compete to reach
to the higher position and hence stay motivated and engaged.

Reason # 5: Employees are the assets of the company but treating them as an asset (a material
thing) is definitely not the way. Human beings are quite an emotional creature. If a company
make them feel valued either by giving them cash incentives or by just appreciating them
verbally, they shall definitely return them in the form of hard work and commitment.

Reason # 6: Making the workplace more comfortable and relaxing is a way to relieve the
employee from his personal stress. The environment of the workplace must feel like a second
home, where they enjoy and have fun with each other. The breaks should be made joyful and
refreshing.

Reason # 7: The senior management of the company seems to be concerned with their own goals
and greed and don’t give a crap about the well being of the employees. This issue must be dealt
by placing trust and confidence in the workforce. The senior management must show their
concern regarding the issues related to employees and backup their concerns by actions.
