A. Write 15 sentences using the following vocabularies.


1. Chamber : Every single light in this chamber will bring us to the top of the
hill.
2. Dam : There will be so many approvals to do if we still use this dam as
our research places.
3. Culvert : We need to remake this filtering sediment for a better culvert in
Samarinda especially on Slamet Riyadi road.
4. Kerb/curb : The most unique part in road section is the pavement’ curb.
5. Pedestrian : So far, as a good architect, she has known whether the river side
pedestrian area is still functional for refreshing place or better
used as a garden.
6. Arch : The greatest roman masterpiece was how they could imagine that
an arch can strengthen a bridge all over the world.
7. Viaduct : Jakarta is the best place if you want to watch entire beautiful
viaduct.
8. Manhole : Drainage is the crucial part of waterways and don’t forget about
the manhole because without it, if there is damage, it will be so
hard to fixed.
9. Pavement : Useless pavement isn’t foreign matter in Indonesia if you don’t
know it yet.
10. Cantilever : Everything which talks about cantilever will always be the highest
problem that we have to do during the task.
11. Footbridge : I rather climb the highest mountain than jump out of that
footbridge.
12. Span : That bridge will be the best construction I ever known because
the span can be divided into two parts for the ship’s way.
13. Sluice : Among ancient sluice or the modern one makes a huge health
environmental transformation as a cesspit-free water indication.
14. Aqueduct : Almost nine tribes were believed that aqueduct resolved their
question for a million years.
15. Watercourse : Each point of drainage system damages can cause a terrible
watercourse disaster.

B. Classify the above words into three categories as roads, bridges,


or waterways
ROADS : Pedestrian, pavement and kerb/curb.
BRIDGES : Span, cantilever, footbridge, viaduct, and arch.
WATERWAYS : Aqueduct, watercourse, sluice, manhole, culvert, dam and
chamber.

C. Explain : ARCH
The arch, a substantial component of a bridge. Sometimes it used not just
as the component but also as the life of the bridge. Do we ever think that bridges
arch has an epic function? For common people that would be just a design but for
a many tribes before centuries, this part was the point of any crucial thing in the
world. Why? Because it can support or strengthen the building as a result it can
carried a lot of weight. There are so many types of an arch such as pointed,
scalloped, horseshoe and etc. indeed, entire buildings must have this elements
structure as none of a structure will be possible formed.
