Bayan is growing in confidence

Child/ Hine: Bayan. Teacher/ Kaiako: Jane. Date: 15 December/ Hakihea 2019

You have enjoyed our term theme about relationships and we enjoyed hearing your stories
about your sisters and Mum and Dad.

At mat time we learned the following beautiful hadith about our mothers: Abu Hurairah (May
Allah be pleased with him) reported: A person came to the Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬and asked,
"Who among people is most deserving of my fine treatment?" He (‫ )ﷺ‬said, "Your mother". He
again asked, ''Who next?" "Your mother", the Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬replied again. He asked, "Who
next?" He (the Prophet (‫ ))ﷺ‬said again, "Your mother." He again asked, "Then who?"
Thereupon he (‫ )ﷺ‬said," Then your father." After we heard the hadith we decided to make a
collage of our mothers and that’s what you are doing in the photo. Your friends are making
collages, too. I asked you to tell me about your Mum and you said: She makes dinner. I want
to cook some dinner with her. I love her 2 minutes. She looks like a Mum. My Mum has big
eyes. We hung all the collages from the ceiling and you were proud to see your Mum up there
with all the other mothers. 4 Dec 19

As well as being part of your family, you are also part of

our pre school community. You join in and contribute to
activities. You play and learn together with the children
and your kaiako. He ataahua to pikitia - Your picture is
beautiful. Nearly all of the tamariki did a painting of
themselves at childcare. You waited for room at the
painting table and then you made this vibrant blue and
yellow girl. When I asked you what you like about
childcare you told me: I like maybe painting and singing
and maybe giving a card for T Jane. I learnt to write my
name. Thank you for sharing with me. That’s a full
schedule, Bayan. 3 Dec 19
Teacher Maryam listened to your
conversation with Bushra as you
stood in front of the map
You said: Do you know where I
am?
Bushra asked: Where?
You pointed to New Zealand on the
map.
Bushra replied: Yes, yes and I’m
from Pakistan but now I in New
Zealand.
You said: I’ll show you where I’m
going and you pointed to the
Belgian flag.
T Maryam knows that your
mother’s family is from Germany. She pointed to the German flag and said: This is very similar.
You and Bushra both agreed with T Maryam and tried to work out whether the German and
Belgian flags were the same. 3 Dec 19

This term we have been learning a new dua. It is aya 41

in Surah Ibrahim in the Quran:

It means: O our Lord, forgive me and my parents and all

the believers on the day of account.
One mat time I asked if someone would like to try and say
the dua for us. You raised your hand and I asked you to
come beside me. I think you had a little stage fright but I
helped you and together we recited it for everyone. That
was really courageous, Bayan. Well done.
In the photo you and Zahra are leading us in our dua
before kai. I love your Muslim manners. 6 Dec 19

What learning has occurred?

Your Learning Pathway for Term 4 is focused on
expressing yourself verbally as you play alongside other
children. Bayan, you have grown in confidence this term.
You have learned that your ideas and contributions are
valued and that gives you courage to share with us. At the
start of this term you were playing alongside other
children, but now you play together with them. You have
learned what fun friends can be and that you can learn together!
Next Steps…
Your big sister Zahra is leaving our childcare in December and starting school in January.
When you come back after the holiday you will be the biggest Aberkane girl at childcare! That’s
a big responsibility. You will need to be resilient. Because you are now enjoying play and
learning with others, your new focus will be on developing friendship skills.

He Hararei nui- Have a wonderful holiday and we look forward to seeing you next year...and
to hearing what fun things you did with your family.

This was funny. We noticed that baby is your mini me. You are wearing the same clothes!
