I. Objective: The students will be able to


a. Distinguish the differences among the patterns of paragraph
development
b. Determine the appropriate pattern for a particular topic to write.
c. Write paragraphs or composition using the patterns learned.

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: Patterns in Paragraph Development
Materials: Visual text within in Manila paper, Reading and Writing Skills Textbook by
Luzviminda D. Sandigan, pp. 14-29
Reference: Reading and Writing Textbook by Luzviminda D. Sandagan, 30-45
Value Focus: Appreciate the different patterns of paragraph development

III. Developmental Activities:


Prayer
Greetings
Checking of attendance
Submission of assignments/outputs/projects (if there is/are)
Review:
Recall student’s prior learnings about paragraphs patterns.
Motivation:
Motivating Question:
“If you are to describe the complexity of your laptop, what pattern of developing your
paragraph are you going to use?”

Presentation:
Present the different patterns of paragraph development

Lesson Proper:
Activity:

Let the students answer the following questions;

1. Will you tell us what happened to you yesterday?


2. Why was there a massive flooding the other day?
3. How do you think the government will solve the problem of heavy traffic?

Let them discuss their answers on their seatmates.


Analysis:

1. How did you answer the number 1 question?


2. What did you discuss when you gave the answer to the number 2 question?
3. How about number 3, what is it about?

- Discuss with the students the different patterns of the paragraph development and
the properties of each one. Encourage learner’s participation.

Abstraction:

Emphasize thee main points of the lesson.

Application:

Group Activity:

Let each group write two paragraphs, each describing the same place from a different point of
view. In one description, include details that reveal a liking for the place; in another description,
let them present details that reveal a dislike.

IV. Assessment:

Post different paragraphs and let them determine what pattern of paragraph is used by
each. Let them answer on a ¼ sheet of paper. Ask them to explain their answers.

1. There are many causes for being friend zoned by your crush. One can be that
your crush likes someone else. Another can be that he/ she sees you as a
sibling. Next, the object of your affection should have other priorities, like
focusing on his / her studies. No matter the reason , it is always good to
remember that you should not measure your value and self esteem on whether
or not your crush likes you.

Research on the properties of a well- written paragraph.
