Generic Maintenance Strategy – Transportable Electrical

Equipment

OBJECTIVE / SCOPE
The objective of the Generic Maintenance Strategies are to utilise the results of maintenance
strategy reviews, and document the application of maintenance practices that can be applied
to specific equipment types to develop equipment maintenance plans. In doing so it supports
the use of operations and maintenance experience based on the principles of risk analysis
for selection and prioritisation of maintenance activities developed in the oil & gas industries.
Generic Maintenance Concepts are effective, where no site-specific operational experience
is available, in developing an initial optimised maintenance programme based on risk
analysis and cost benefit principles.
The Generic Maintenance Concepts are developed to help provide a convenient
standardized starting point for how to perform preventive maintenance tasks for facilities
systems. The focus is the selection of the most effective maintenance approach and requires
an understanding of the selected machine's failure modes and the consequences of that
failure. The consequences of failure will vary depending on the operating context of the
machine or machine system.

TRANSPORTABLE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

Planned maintenance of Transportable Electrical Equipment has been standardised in terms
of the level and frequency of inspection required. All Transportable Electrical Equipment will
be subject to visual checks by a competent person before use and either a further detailed
inspection/test carried out at fixed intervals.
