Educators Message
Hello, students and guardians my name is Miss. Bonafede and I will be your studnets

State University Fullerton, and I have a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. I am
currently in Cal State Fullerton’s Credential program where I am learning all that I can to

Teaching Philosophy
Physical Education is an integral part of the total education process. It promotes positive
self-image and an understanding of how living an active, healthy lifestyle through fitness
and skill development will impact a person for the rest of their life. I will strive to
emphasize physical and cognitive skill development, social interaction skills and
2

appreciation for all students in a multicultural society. My program is designed to

educate students in the understanding and development of health-related fitness
programs, in accordance with the Physical Education Model Content Standards for
California Public Schools. Through participation in a wide variety of activities throughout
the school year, I hope to create a desire to embrace a healthy and activity lifestyle.

Daily routines in Physical Education

● Once the bell sounds students will report to their roll call numbers located on the
blacktop. They should be sitting on there numbers unless stated otherwise.
● After roll is finished students will go into the locker room and dress. The time
allowed to dress out is usually around 10 minutes. You may also go to the
restroom during this time.
● Once students are dressed out they will come back to their numbers and begin to
warm-up. The warm-up is done as a class.
● After the warm-up is completed, students will complete a warm-up lap.
● Once the warm-up lap is done students will return to a place I have designated
and receive instruction for today.
● After instruction is finished the students will be able to start participating in the
day’s activity.
● 10 more minutes are given at the end of the class to dress out.

Unifrom Requirements
● Students at Happy Middle School are required to dress out daily in their proper
physical education uniform. Uniforms allow for maximum participation in-class
activities and reduce the risk of harming personal clothes.

● To prevent injuries students must wear proper footwear in physical education.

Proper footwear is closed toes, athletic shoes that are also to be worn with
socks.

● Students may not wear jewelry during class. Jewelry is a serious safety issue, as
wearing jewelry during physical activity can result in bodily harm. Exceptions are
medical alert bracelets, sport watches, and stud earrings.

● If sweatshirts or sweats are to be worn in class they must be a single color and
have no inappropriate text or pictures.

● Students must take their uniforms home at the end of the week to be washed and
then returned the following Monday. This will help prevent odor occurring in the
locker rooms and on your student’s clothes.

Locker Room Expectations

● While in the locker room students must follow courtesy rules and expectations:

○ No open food or drinks except for water

○ No stealing

○ Phones go from the backpack directly into the locker. If you are seen
with or reported to have been using your phone while in the locker room
you may be suspended.

○ You may not store anything besides PE related necessities in your locker.
4

○ If you find items in the locker room that do not belong to you, please bring
them to the PE office.

Absences, Medical Notes, and Make-Ups

● Makeup work will be provided for excused absences. It is the student’s
responsibility to obtain the make-up work from their teacher within one week of
the absence.

● A parent note is required for students to be excused from active participation in

class. When a parent note is given the student will still be required to make up
their participation points for that day but completing a unit related writing
assignment.

● A doctor’s note will excuse a student for as long as is designated and

participation does not have to be made up.

Grading
● My grading policy reflects my desire to encourage effort, participation, good
sportsmanship, and continuing development of cognitive and motor skills.

○ Active participation and skills knowledge 45-50%

○ Fitness Performance 40-45%

○ End of quarter assessments 5-10%

(Your student does not need to be a star athlete to play sports they just need to give it
their best and try)
