MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY

PROJECT PROPOSAL

In line with the celebration of Global Media and Information Literacy week
2019 this coming October 24-31 2019 and the performance task provided in the
curriculum guide;

“The learner organizes a creative and interactive symposium for the community
focusing on being a media and information literate individual.”

The students of Grade 11 under Media and Information Literacy subject will
have to follow this performance task in connection to the Media and Information
Literacy week with a;

Theme: Media and Information Literacy - MIL Citizens: Informed,


Engaged, Empowered

The students of Grade 11 will have to create a digital poster for the said event
relating to the topic that will be discuss. It can be an infographic style with contents
summarizing their presentation in relation to the theme. This will serve as their written
output.

I. Objectives
For the Grade 11:
- They should be able to demonstrate their understanding of Media and
Information Literacy (MIL) and MIL related concepts.
- They should be able to create a text and visual digital poster which will
showcase the assigned topic to the group that aims to inform high
school students on how to be a responsible user and competent
producer of media information.
- They should be able to organize a creative and interactive symposium
that aims to educate selective students on how to be a responsible
user of these media platforms.
For the audience:
- They should be able to understand the message in every presentation
about the topics encompassing the media and information literacy
concepts
- They should be able to apply their learning on how to effectively use
media information in real life.

II. Topics
The presentations during the symposium will contain the following
subjects and topics:

3. Fake News
4. Cyberbullying
5. Issues in Social Networks
6. Internet Safety

The said symposium would be of great help to high school students as they will

opener for the students as this can equip them with sufficient knowledge on how to
effectively use media information in the right way.
