Third, for Bonhoeffer, the Psalms, and also the entire Old Testament, were the "Book of
Christ." The Old Testament should therefore be read in the light of both the Incarnation and
the Cross. A scholarly exposition of this vantage point has been offered recently by Martin
A Bonhoeffer Sermon Kuske of East Germany, The Old Testament as the Book of Christ: An Appraisal of
Bonhoeffer's Interpretation (Philadelphia: Westminster, 1976). Kuske argues that Bonhoeffer

Three brief comments may help orient readers to this newly translated "Sermon on a Psalm of 11, 1937.
