donations will come in handy for the remote police stations where the government
plans to deploy more police officers.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony at Baidoa police station, Isaq Ali Subak,
the Southwest State Minister of Internal Security thanked AMISOM for the support
and said they plan to deploy more police officers in those areas.
"The equipment will be used for smooth running of the police stations. We are
grateful to AMISOM Police for supporting Southwest state police through training
courses, mentoring and various other day-to-day activities," Minister Isaq said.
"We have plans to expand our police program by recruiting and training 400 officers.
We always depend on AMISOM support. AMISOM Police plays a major role in
training and building the capacity of the Southwest State police. We have an
excellent working relationship with the AMISOM Police, which we hope will

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hiriga Dauda, the AMISOM Police Coordinating

police operations and that he hopes the gesture will forge stronger working ties with
the Somali police.
"Today, as AMISOM police, through the Danish funded project, we have handed over
chairs, filing cabinets and tables to be distributed to the five police stations. This
furniture is meant to ease the work of the police officers and improve operational
capacities, which in turn will improve policing activities within the State," SSP Hiriga
affirmed.
As part of its mandate, AMISOM supports the Somali Security Forces by enhancing
their capacity through training and provision of material support to help improve
their work conditions.
