At the end of lesson, the pupils should be able to:
 Estimate the duration of time in minutes.

3. Motivation
The teacher will show and talk about the picture of a girl cleaning
alone in the school ground.
Ask:
What have you observed in this picture?
How about you, do you also work without being told or when
no one is watching?

B. Presentation
Present this situation to the class.

The ground of Castro Elementary School is planted with mangoes. Lorena


and her group mates started to clean the ground at exactly 6:12 a.m. They
finished cleaning at around 6:48 a.m. about how many minutes did they
spend cleaning the school ground?

Ask:
What are the girls doing?
At what time did they start and finish cleaning?
What is asked in the problem?

The class will be divided into two groups. Each group will solve the given
problem. They will be given 10 mins to do the activity.

D. Analysis/Abstraction

Is there a difference between the actual elapsed time and estimated
elapsed time?
How did you estimate time in minutes?

E. Generalization
Lead the pupils to give the following generalization by asking:
How do we estimate the elapsed time in minutes?

To estimate the elapsed time, round the minutes in the time ended
and time started to tens. Then, find the difference

F. Application
Find the estimated and actual elapsed time in the situation inside the box.

Lorena and Ian started working on their project in music after their
classes in the afternoon at 5:30 pm. They finished their project at 6:05
pm.
