Web access and VoIP. The commercial bundling of IPTV, VoIP and Internet access is
referred to as a Triple Play. Adding the mobile voice service leads to the Quadruple Play
denomination. IPTV is typically supplied by a broadband operator using a closed network
infrastructure. This closed network approach is in competition with the delivery of TV
content over the public Internet. This type of delivery is widely called TV over Internet or
Internet Television. In businesses, IPTV may be used to deliver television content over
corporate LANs and business networks. Perhaps a simpler definition of IPTV would be
television content that, instead of being delivered through traditional formats and cabling,
is received by the viewer through the technologies used for computer networks. The

Two methods of connecting power cables are available: the front outlet and back outlet.
For the front outlet, it is required to configure PDBX DC power conversion card that is
plugged in slot 0.
For the back outlet, the connector post on FSAP 9800 backplane is used for connecting
the power cable.
When no splitter shelf is configured, the subscriber shelf can hold subscriber cards that
have no built-in splitters and splitter cards together to achieve simultaneous access of
broadband data services and narrowband voice services. The Figure 4-7 shows the
FSAP 9800 slot distribution in this mode.

7.2.1 Definitions
ADSL
ADSL rates expand existing access capacity by a factor of 50 or more without new
cabling. ADSL can literally transform the existing public information network from one
limited to voice, text, and low-resolution graphics to a powerful system capable of
bringing multimedia, including full motion video to each home.
ADSL2+
ADSL2+ provides 24 Mbps downstream and 1 Mbps upstream. ADSL2+ uses high
frequency up to 2.2 MHz. ADSL2+ applies to transmission with asymmetric rate. It
delivers speed up to 20 times faster than the typical broadband services over copper line
networks. FSAP 9800 provides ADSL 2+ service.
Annex A
This mode uses ADSL over POTS, with POTS service on same lines pair.
Annex B
This mode uses ADSL over ISDN, with ISDN service on same lines pair.
Annex C
Besides the above three modes, ADSL2+ also supports following three modes below.
Frequency band is further divided into smaller sub-bands.
Annex I
Annex J
It is compatible to the complete digital mode of ADSL over ISDN (annex B) frequency
spectrum. The available uplink band can be expanded from 3 kHz to 276 kHz if there is
no ISDN service on the line. It supports 64 sub-bands at the maximum. The utmost uplink
rate reaches to 2.3 Mbps.
Annex M
It is ADSL over POTS with the expanded uplink bandwidth. The uplink sub-band starts
from 6. The sub-bands end at 32, 36, 40, 44 to 63 according to different bandwidth
requirements. The total transmission power keeps the same, only the sub-band
distribution is different. In this way, 3 Mbps uplink rate is available. For the downlink, the
frequency is overlap and non-overlap similar to annex B.
VDSL2
ITU-T G.993.2 VDSL2 is the newest and most advanced standard of DSL broadband
wire line communications. Designed to support the wide deployment of Triple Play
services such as voice, video, data, high definition television (HDTV) and interactive
gaming, VDSL2 enables operators and carriers to gradually, flexibly, and cost efficiently
upgrade existing xDSL-infrastructure.
VDSL2 deteriorates quickly from a theoretical maximum of 250 Mbps at 'source' to 100
Mbps at 0.5 km and 50 Mbps at 1 km, but degrades at a much slower rate from there, and
still outperforms VDSL.
SHDSL
SHDSL technology provides high-speed symmetric data service on a single pair or two
pairs of twisted-pair cable. SHDSL technology can transport data symmetrically at data
rates from 192 Kbps to 2,320 Kbps or 2.3 Mbps on a single pair of twisted-pair cables.
For SHDSL with two pairs of twisted-pairs cable, the transmission rate ranges from 400
kbps to 4624 kbps. SHDSL utilizes a single copper wire pair, making it an affordable
DSL option attractive to small businesses.
EPON
In an EPON, the optical signals can be accurately transmitted to a final user without any
complex protocol. The data from the final user can be sent to the network as a whole.
