ACTIVITY/TRAINING DESIGN

TITLE : Training on the Calibration of selected Test Instruments.

DATE :

VENUE :

FUND SOURCE : Trust Receipts (External Fundings) – DA BAFE

RATIONALE:

USeP-CARS has been seeking to empower itself with modern and innovative technologies to keep abreast with
agricultural HEIs in developed countries and in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nation). The main purpose
of the college is by establishing an Agricultural and Fisheries Machinery Testing and Evaluation Center. One of important
component of establishing the testing center is Equipment Calibration.

Calibration of equipment is vital and needs to be carried out on a regular basis. This is because instruments tend to
deviate owing to hard operating conditions, mechanical shocks or exposure to extreme temperature or pressure. Some
companies offer a pre-calibration test where they test equipment first, to determine whether it is suitable for calibration,
whilst others will submit all equipment for calibration whether or not it is working properly. In general use, calibration is
often regarded as including the process of adjusting the output or indication on a measurement instrument to agree with
value of the applied standard. To be confident in the results being measured there is an ongoing need to maintain the
calibration of equipment throughout its lifetime for reliable, accurate and repeatable measurements.

Hence, this activity is proposed to support the faculty and students improve their knowledge and skills on equipment
calibration in accordance with the Philippines National Standards (PNS) ISO/IEC 170025:2005 and PAES.

OBJECTIVES

1. To equip faculty and students on the fundamental skills and principles required for operating
equipment’s.
2. To equip faculty and students with the basic knowledge of equipment calibration.

EXPECTED OUTPUTS

1. Basic knowledge on the fundamental skills and principles upon operating the equipment.

2. Basic knowledge on equipment calibration.
