SCHOLARSHIP PROCESS

T he Santa Fe College Foundation offers a variety of scholarships to students graduating from Alachua or Bradford counties
and all other students entering SF. Eligibility requirements vary depending on the degree program and the scholarships
selected. Foundation scholarships are based on scholastic achievement, special talent or financial aid, depending on the
specific scholarship criteria. Scholarships are considered part of the student’s financial aid package and must be reported
to the Financial Aid office. Scholarship awards vary from $500 to $2,000 per academic year payable during the fall and spring
terms.

Students may apply for a maximum of three (3) scholarships as long as they meet the established criteria. Scholarship
applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA unless otherwise noted on the scholarship announcement. An academic transcript
must be attached to the application form. If college GPA is unavailable, high school transcripts must be provided. Completed
applications may either be mailed, hand delivered to one of the campus locations, or submitted from the college Web site
www.sfcollege.edu/scholarships.

Applications are available on Santa Fe’s Web site and at Alachua and Bradford county high schools. Scholarship recipients
must meet all scholarship requirements to receive the scholarship award. Students must be enrolled as full-time students
(minimum 12 credit hours each semester), successfully complete 24 credit hours per academic year, and maintain the
appropriate grade point average (see individual scholarship announcement) during the award period.

student who is chosen to receive a scholarship award from the Foundation will receive an award letter announcing
A
the type and amount of award offered, as well as specific scholarship information, responsibilities, and the criteria for
that scholarship award. The Santa Fe College Foundation Scholarship Committee reserves the right to make all final
scholarship decisions.

INCOMPLETE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PACKETS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED

PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING A SCHOLARSHIP

1. Students must apply for admission to the college. Any student new to SF should begin at the Office of Admissions in
R-101. Upon acceptance, students receive an appointment for orientation and registration for the fall term.

2. Students who fail to enroll in the fall 2011 term forfeit their scholarship award and it is automatically canceled. For
questions or help, contact the Office for Development, RAB-207, or call 352.395.5200.

3. Scholarship awards are posted to the student’s college account after the thank you note is received. Fees are
automatically deducted from an award when a student registers for classes. Any balance owed must be paid at the
cashier’s window, RAB-52, by the published deadline; otherwise the courses will be dropped. If there is a balance
remaining after fees are deducted, a balance check will be mailed to the address on file with the Office of the Registrar
after drop/add dates have passed. Checks will not be mailed to students who owe obligations to the college or have a
financial aid hold on their records.

4. Students will be monitored for a cumulative minimum required GPA and completed credits/hours at the end of every
term. Satisfactory academic progress is required for the award to remain intact for the next term. Students who
complete zero credits/hours will be denied further aid.

5. A student who is selected for a scholarship and will not meet the required enrollment status for any term covered by the
award must contact the Foundation office at 352.395.5200 in a timely manner.

the Foundation office. All requests must be submitted in writing and are evaluated
individually.
