DeltaV Workstation Software VE210x DeltaV Workstation v12.3.1

This Knowledge Base Article, NK-1400-0084, provides an updated list of hotfixes for DeltaV v12.3.1.
Hotfixes are organized into two types of updates, standalone and bundle. A standalone hotfix typically addresses a
single issue and may or may not require a bundle for installation. A hotfix bundle combines several standalone patches
and will require the removal of any standalone patches contained in the bundle prior to installation.
When several standalone patches are released in a specific category, they will be combined into a hotfix bundle. If
multiple hotfix bundles are required for a specific category, the latest bundle will always include all patches contained in
the preceding bundle(s), including the more recent standalone patches.
After a bundle has been released for a category, additional standalone patches will require the previous bundle to be
installed as well to ensure that the correct files are installed on the system. Hotfixes are normally grouped into different
categories, as follows:

Notes
 DO NOT UPGRADE a simplex controller on a running process. Only redundant controllers should
be upgraded on a live process.
 When flash upgrading redundant controllers on-line, DO NOT perform a controller switchover
until the “PAVAIL” parameter on the Redundancy Subsystem is "YES", the “FreMem” parameter
on the Standby Controller is no longer decreasing and the “FreTim” or “PERF_INDEX” parameter
on the Standby Controller is “100%” or “5”, respectively (whichever is applicable).
 Starting with v12.3, SQ, SX, and SZ Controllers are equipped with Performance Indexes from 5-1
for Control & Communication instead of the Free Processor time figure, an Overall Performance
Indicator “PERF_INDEX” with a scale from 5-1, where 5 stands for “Great Performance” and 1
stands for “Requires Attention”.
 DeltaV Diagnostics has a default update rate of 15 seconds. It is recommended to set the
update rate to 3 seconds for this procedure.

2. WORKSTATION and BATCH

Note: The release of standalone Workstation Hotfixes (i.e. one installer that only installs one hotfix) has
been greatly reduced and replaced with the release of Workstation Bundles (i.e. one installer that installs
multiple hotfixes). Batch-related hotfixes are included in Workstation Bundles and are not released
separately. Bundles greatly reduce the amount of time and effort necessary to apply hotfixes to DeltaV
systems, and also eliminate the need to select which standalone hotfixes are actually required.
When new workstation hotfix bundles are released, they supersede previously released workstation hotfix
bundles (removal of previous hotfix bundles is enforced by the hotfix installation software for the newest
bundle). When installing a new workstation bundle on a DeltaV system, it is not recommended to leave
some workstations running an older workstation bundle for an extended period of time.
Workstations must be set to a supported “System Locale” for the hotfix installer to work correctly when
installing language specific files. Refer to the ReadMe file for additional information.
