Rollover after van hits tree

By Helen Tatchell

A straight stretch of road in Moorabool has nearly claimed

the life of a man after his van crashed into a tree.
Victoria Police told the Moorabool News it was a single
vehicle accident on Gisborne Road at Coimadai.
“The sole occupant of the vehicle collided with a tree on
Friday 17 January at around 6.25pm.
“The driver was a 26-year old male who was airlifted by the
Ambulance Victoria helicopter with serious, but non-life-
threatening injuries,” the VicPol spokesperson said.
Ambulance Victoria said paramedics were called to the
scene and the man was flown to the Royal Melbourne
Hospital in a serious condition.
“Injuries sustained where to his upper and lower body.”
The road was closed in a north and south direction with a
number of vehicles delayed.
CFA media told the Moorabool News both CFA and SES
units did attend the single-vehicle crash and “worked to
extricate one person from the car.”
Emergency services work together to extract the 26-year old male driver after his van hit a tree and rolled at Coimadai. The man was trapped inside with photos showing the

Laurels Education
and Training
welcomes the new year in with a
fresh new look. Formerly known
as Bacchus Marsh Community
College, the Board of Directors
decided to rebrand to provide
a more unique and streamlined
identity.
Since it was established over
30 years ago, the College has
always been known locally as
“The Laurels” with Bacchus Marsh
Community College being the legal
name since 2008. As Bacchus
Marsh Community College is very
close in name to Bacchus Marsh
College there have been some
instances of confusion for clients
of both organisations.
The change of name came into
effect on 1st January, 2020 – all
other details of the organisation
will remain the same. The new name and logo are displayed on the bright
new signs that have been installed at ‘The Laurels’. It is anticipated that
the new name will make the college more easily identifiable to members
of the community and promote a crisp professional look.
Laurels Education and Training (LET) provides quality training locally
and is the only Registered Training Organisation in Bacchus Marsh.
Opportunities are always available for new courses. Therefore, if you
have a skill you would like to share and teach to others please contact
the office to discuss possibilities.
Bacchus Marsh author Wayne Marshall is celebrating the publication of his short story collection Shirl Staff at LET look forward to an exciting and busy 2020.
