development for society, the Boiler & Heater Group has in
the recent past delivered several breakthrough innovations
through a combination of in-house R&D and global-
sourcing of the best available technologies. Among these
are spent wash-fired boiler for distilleries, municipal solid
waste-fired boiler for urban waste disposal, waste heat
recovery boiler for cement plants and internal-
recirculation circulating fluidized bed boiler for power
generation. The B&H Group is also working on a range of
products for the emerging market for solar energy based
heat recovery systems.

A Case Study

Biomass Boiler Based on FBC Technology

Energy ! R .R. Energy Pvt. Ltd. has set up a 14 MW biomass-based power plant at Garh
Product Umaria / Darramuda, Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh. The unit started commercial
production of power from January 13, 2007. The generated power is sold to the grid
for a remunerative tariff.

! R. R. Energy was promoted by the Raipur-based Hira Group, whose other group
companies include Hira Ferro Alloys Ltd. and Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd.

! Among the other notable features of the project is the use of air-cooled condenser
instead of a cooling tower to help conserve water. Also, ash from hoppers and ESP is
conveyed to an ash silo and later transported to cement plants.

boiler.
