About This Manual
Purpose
The ZXA10 C300M/C350M (V4.0.1) multiplex service gateway is an access device that
works at the access layer. It integrates DSLAM with MSAN, and converges a certain
number of narrowband service subscribers and broadband service subscribers. The
narrowband service is provided by the SS while the broadband service is provided by the
Internet service operators.
This manual describes basic configurations for the ZXA10 C300M/C350M, including
configuration preparations, NE pre-configurations, and data backup and restoration.
The ZXA10 C300M is large-scale equipment while the ZXA10 C350M is medium-scale
equipment. They differ in the main control card position and system capacity. For the
ZXA10 C300M, the main control card is installed in slot 10 and slot 11. For the ZXA10
C350M, the main control card of the 6U shelf is installed in slot 6 and slot 7. This manual
uses the ZXA10 C300M as an example to describe the configurations.

Intended Audience
This manual is intended for debugging engineers.

2.1 Configuring In-Band NM (SNMP v1/v2)

This procedure describes how to configure in-band Network Management (NM). The
SNMP v1 protocol is used in this procedure.

Context
In in-band NM mode, the NMS manages the ZXA10 C300M/C350M through the service
channel of the ZXA10 C300M/C350M. Flexible in-band networking modes are provided,
requiring no additional devices. It reduces the costs but the maintenance is not convenient.
The SNMP v1 and SNMP v2 protocols are described as follows:

l The SNMP v1 protocol is a simple request/response protocol. After the network

management system sends a request to an NE, the NE will return a response.
The SNMP v1 protocol does not support encryption and authorization. It provides
simple authentication through community names contained in SNMP. The basic
security system is achieved by communities, which enable authentication when the
SNMP network administrator accesses an NE agent.

l The SNMP v2 protocol, which evolves from the SNMP v1 protocol, adds and
enhances protocol-related operations. It simplifies the Trap message to make it have
the same format as other messages. It also provides verification, encryption, and
synchronization mechanisms, which greatly improve the system security.

Prerequisite
l The ZXA10 C300M/C350M is logged in to through Telnet.

Data Planning
For the in-band NM data planning, refer to Table 2-1.

service channels. On the SNMP v1/v2 basis, the SNMP v3 protocol enhances the security
and remote configuration capabilities, and messages are transmitted in encryption mode.

Context
The SNMP v3 protocol defines a user-based security model, which consists of the following
three modules:
l authentication module
l encryption module
l time limit module

Prerequisite
The ZXA10 C300M/C350M is logged in to through hyper terminal.

This procedure describes how to add cards for the ZXA10 C300M/C350M.

Context
You can use either of the following two methods to add cards for the ZXA10 C300M/C350M:
l Enable the automatic card configuration function.
After the function is enabled, the rack, primary shelf, and the main control card and
service card of the primary shelf are added automatically. The secondary shelf must
be added manually. After a secondary shelf is added manually, the main control card
and service card of the secondary shelf are added automatically by the PnP function.
l Manually add cards.
With this method, when a primary shelf is added, its main control card is automatically
added. The service card of the primary shelf and the main control card and service
card of the secondary shelf must be manually added by executing the add-card
command.
