Chapter I
Introduction
On-the-Job Training or OJT is one method by which students is given a
chance to apply the theories and computations that they have learned from the
school. It also helps the students to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by
performing in actual work setting. Colleges and universities require their
students to undergo such training within a specific number of hours.
For the students, an Internship Programs or OJT provides opportunities
to go through the actual methodologies. In effect, the workplace becomes a
development venue for a student trainee to learn more about their chosen field
and practice of what they learn from academy.
It was an honor for us to work with the CMT staff, the IT and Computer
Education Unit.
Historical Background of the Company
The history of Leyte Normal University dates back to the year pre-war-
years. It came into being in 1921 as the Provincial Normal School (PNS), a
mere adjunct of the Leyte High School (LHS). It eventually outgrew its base
becoming a two-year collegiate training institution in 1993. It became a degree-
granting four-year college complete with a training department in 1952. It was
known as Leyte Normal School (LNS).
On June 14, 1976 it was converted into the Leyte State College by virtue
of Presidential Degree No. 944, signed by then President Ferdinand Marcos.

In 1993, the late Congressman Cirilo Roy Montejo filed House Bill No.
22 in the House of Representatives proposing the conversion of the college into
a university. This bill was sponsored by former Senator Letecia Ramos-Shahani
in the Senate on February 23, 1995, the college was converted into the Leyte
Normal University (LNU) through R.A 7910.
Sometime in April 1996, the university was proclaimed by the
Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as the Center of Excellence for
Teacher Education from 2008-2011.

To produce top performing professionals equipped to engage on
knowledge and technology production so necessary to develop a sustainable
society.

A leading University of education and diverse disciplines, attuned to
local and global development needs.

Location and Area Description
The trainees had their internship at the Computer Management
Technology (CMT) of IT and Computer Education Unit, Leyte Normal
University. They were supervised by Mr. Debby P. Turco and his staff Mr.
Boogie Avestruz, they are technologist in the said institution.
There are four students that were assigned into different supervisors.
They were given System to develop and had some particular similarity on their
task’s such as maintaining computer in the computer laboratory’s. They started
their OJT from August to December 2019 and completed 486 hours as their
requirements.
The trainees learned new experiences and enhanced their IT related
skills, which they can treasure and be used in their future career.
