Science, Culture and Ethics of Information Technology, its influence on modern living and human relationships and
uses for personal, professional and social advancement.

SPECIFIC GOALS FOR THE COURSE
a. Course Objective
The course aims to provide knowledge and skills in:
1. Understanding the basic concept of computing;
2. Identifying the applications of computing in different fields.
3. Knowing the fundamentals of computer systems.
4. Understanding the social, cultural and economic consequenses of new communication technologies and to
encourage critical thinking about “new media” generally.
5. Analyzing the evolving information ecology as it is affect the media industries as well as the media audience.

b. Course Outcomes
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. Identify the milestones in Computing, Networking, Information Storage and Retrieval.
2. Explain the role of technology in media and how it affects communication.
3. Familiarized themselves with the history of the internet and discuss the purpose of a web browser
4. Recognized the major points of the Intellectual Property code of the Philippines.
5. Explain the phenomena of mobile commerce and mobile social media using concept related to e-commerce
and social media.
6. Reflect on the current trends seen in the field of information technology and describe how the given IT trends
affect the Filipino’s way of living.
