Part 3: Contingency Plans. Standard PPE,S : First aid kit must be present at the area and the Hse personnel is the first response in case of
emergency

always be removed and the power shut off.
 Welding earth leads shall be attached
immediately adjacent to the material being
welded (i.e. to prevent stray sparks in other
locations.

Defective welding cables  Welding cables and gas hoses shall be


inspected for cuts, breaks, leaks or
insulation damage
 Flash back arrestors shall be fitted to
oxygen and acetylene lines.
 Oxygen – acetylene cylinders shall be
shutoff while un attended.
Pressurized gas cylinders shall be stored kept at a
safe distance from the welding activity.
Personnel struck by sparks, steel buffer wire or  Double eye protection with hat mounted face shield

tagging.
