THE NECESSARY REVOLUTION

CHAPTER 12: The Tragedy and Opportunity of the Commons

GIST:
The chapter begins with a brief discussion of the issues we considered
natural in our way of living which causes environmental hazards that societies may
provoke. The earth is home to millions of living things and we are one who
dominates it. People’s cleverness, resourcefulness and actions have modified
almost every part of our planet. In fact, we are having a deep impact on it. Indeed,
what are actions were now the reflection of every global problem we face.

In mid part, they have mentioned that they had evaluated the attitudes of
children towards their natural environment and it shows a difference of their
thoughts, desires and objectives. Since, they were only children this represent
what the society shapes them and what they see as a source of their personality.

This chapter clearly enlighten us of humanity's prospects and attitude

towards what they are having or gaining. It simplified by its example of people
towards fishery and by analyzing the situations that had or could happened in
reality we would realize the message in this book. It also talks about that if
something bad happens to the world, the moral harm done will be immense.
Guarding against events with even a small probability of causing that is worthwhile.
