RESUMO
ABSTRACT
This study aimed to identify the risk factors associated with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in a rural
community in the Alagoas region. This is a descriptive, qualitative study based on secondary data
from the Ministry of Health’s Notification Disease Information System (SINAN), the data collected
werw delimited by specifc years, from the year 2015 to the year 2019. As a method, secondary
data collection was used, viewed on individual user listings, containing them, identification,
general documents, required documents, address, patient clinical data, and information about
treatment, showing if medicated or not medicated and presented type of medicines that could be
in use ant the amount ingested or applied per day. As for the results, there was a predominance
of risk factors: physical inactivity, overweight/obesity and arterial hypertension, however the
presence of complications classified as acute myocardial infarction and stroke should also be
highlighted. Therefore it is necessary to have educational interventions that present information
about the disease, conducts for healthy living habits, nutritional education, weight loss and blood
pressure control, because they are essential for providing knowledge and skills that need to be
done together with the daily care that the disease requires, since the practices of these healthy
habits are necessary and have positive effect proven in the literature.
