• Wait quietly without positively narrating
or explaining what you’re waiting for
• Leverage your class-wide system again
if you already used that to get them
quiet in the first place
• Spend too long talking about what that
one student should have been doing or
correcting his/her behavior
• Debate with a student about whether or
not he/she was following your
instructions
• Leverage your class-wide or groups
system
• Lecture student who was off task
• Give out individual consequences to
each student who is off task
• Lecture the group of students who was
off task
• Use your class-wide system
