Standard of shore connection

To meet the pollution control target as the main reason for doing a shore
connection there are 2 main standards that must be met both in terms of
construction and design of the shore connection. These standards are:
• Requirements relating to meeting the safety aspects of high voltage
connections.
• Requirements to ensure compatibility / compatibility between
equipment on board and shore connection.
The standard aims to:
• Facilitating cooperation between shipping industry and port operators.
• Produce standard operating procedures.
• Encourage compliance with standards so that the maximum number of
ships that can use shore connection equipment can increase in many ports.
This standard will cover aspects such as:
• The quality of the power supply provided (quality of the power supply)
• Electrical requirements
• Environmental and mechanical requirements (environmental and
mechanical requirements)
• Safety (safety)
• Requirements regarding electronic equipment (electronic equipment
requirements)
• Ship requirements
• Compatibility between shore connection and equipment on board
(compatibility between shore connection and ship equipment)
• Ship to shore connection interface
• Plugs and sockets
• Verification and testing (verification and testing)
Starting to refer to the industry standards used, the industry standards
surrounding shore connections are:
IEC / ISO / IEEE shore connection standard, which consists of ::
• Utility connections in port - Part 1: High Voltage Shore Connection
(HVSC) System - general requirements: IEC / ISO / IEEE 80005-1
• Plugs, socket-outlets and ship couplers for High Voltage Shore
Connection Systems (HVSC systems): IEC 62613-1 & 2
• The IEC / ISO / IEEE 80005-1 standard was developed jointly by: EC
technical committee, TC18: Electrical Installations of Ships and of Mobile
and Fixed Offshore Units
• TC8 ISO technical committee: Ships and Marine Technology
Subcommittee SC 3, Piping and Machinery
• IEEE IAS Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee (PCIC) of the
Industry Applications Society
The content of the IEC / ISO / IEEE standard connection shore is:
• The quality of the power supply provided (quality of the power supply),
which includes:
limitations on voltage and frequency
• Electrical requirements, which include:
System voltage (6.6 kV and / or 11Kv)
Power range
Short-circuit capacity
Earthing system
• Environmental and mechanical requirements, which include:
Compliance with IEC 60092-101 and 60092-503 standards
Temperature, humidity, wind speed, etc.
Combination of weather conditions
Protection from moisture and condensation
• Safety (safety)
Protection from electric shock
Connection protection when handling
Interlocking system
Protection from electrical failure
Requirements for operations in toxic areas
Emergency shutdown
Operating regulations
• Requirements regarding electronic equipment (electronic equipment
requirements), which include:
Switchboards
Circuit breakers
Transformer
Inverters
Cooling systems
• Ship requirements (ship requirements), which include:
Shore connection switchboard
Circuit breaker, disconnector, earth switch
Transformer
Protection against electrical failure
Ship connection procedures
Power restoration on ships
Load transfer
• Compatibility between shore connection and equipment on board
(compability between shore connection and ship equipment), which
includes:
Assessment of the compatibility of the shore connection
• Ship to shore connection interface, which includes:
Cable system
Cable type
Monitoring of cable tension
Monitoring of cable length
Monitoring of cable imbalances
• Plugs and sockets, which include:
Operator Operation safety
Play contacts
Pilot contacts
Earth contacts
Contact connection sequences
• Verification and testing (verification and testing), which includes:
Visual inspection
Test the high voltage frequency in accordance with the HV switchgear
62271-200 and 60502-2 standards
Measurement of insulation resistance
Tests the functioning of safety equipment
Tests the functioning of the control equipment
Phase sequence test
Integration test
Speaking of standards, shore connection standards must be able to meet
various types of needs of various types of ships such as:
• Container ships, bulk carriers, cargo ships with length <100 m, require a
power range of 300 mVA - 3 mVA.
• Container ship, reefer ship with a length of> 200 m, requires a power
range of 3-6 MVA.
• Tanker with a length of> 200 m, requires 3-11 MVA of power
• Cruise ships with a length of> 200 m, requiring a power of 10 -20 MVA
