Liang Hoo Cooling Tower

LDT 225 – 1000 COOLING TOWER


ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

Please Pay Attention:


1. PVC Filler should be stored in the shaded area. Prolonged
contact with the sun would deform the PVC
2. RESIN, catalyst and Fiber Glass also should be stored in the
shaded area and have to keep them dry.

Please refer to the following data for exact cooling tower installation:

5. Parts Number and Screw List

Tools Required
1. Scaffolding
2. Spanner size 17&18 (16 pcs) and 22 & 24 (6 pcs)
3. Pipe Wrench 20” ( 2 pcs)
4. Electric Drill 13 MM (Double direction) (2 pcs)
5. Drill Bit 11,13 ( 2 pcs)
6. Grinder 4” (2 pcs)
7. Socket Spanner 17 & 19 (2 pcs)

1. FRAME ASS’Y
a. Concrete foundation bases should be located perfect level and
clean
b. Assemble Tower Frame Ass’y Fix assembled frame on the
foundations.
c. After checking the Frame for being level, securely tighten bolts.
d. Do not fasten the bolts mentioned above, until the assembly of
water basin and sump is completed.

2. WATER BASIN & SUMP


a. Considering the required pipe direction first, then decide water
Basin & Sump positions.

b. Assemble water basin according to its consequent order.
c. Fasten the bolts of water basin and sump. The bolts hexagon
head in inside the sump, so that the nuts can be fastened from
outside.

3. Casing Supporter & Stiffened Ring


a. Adjust the casing supporter to be located adequately on the
Frame Ass’y.
b. Assemble Casing Supporter.
c. Tentatively fasten stiffener Ring on Casing Supporter.
(For LDT – 300 & upwards)

4. Casing
a. Rest casing on the stiffener ring. Corresponding set marks
clamp casing with bolts (For LDT 300 Upwards)
b. Clamp casing rim and stiffener ring with bolts. (For LDT 300
Upwards)
c. Rest casing on the casing supporter (For LDT 150 – 250)
d. After ensuring assembled condition, securely tighten bolts with
even torque.
e. If casing has two parts, it shall be assembled according to the
following procedures, cylinder (additional casing) and diffuser
(Upper casing/ Fan stack) (for LDT 400 & upwards)

5. Stand Pipe
Insert stand pipe base to the water sump, and applied F.R.P. to
join two of connection pipe.

6. Filling Supporter.
a. After placing column assemble filling supporter.
b. After checking and correcting any irregularity secure each bolt.

7. Ladder
a. Fix the ladder upper sec. && lower sec. with bolts. Then
assemble bracket.
b. Set the top end of ladder on the upper flange of casing.
c. Set bracket on water basin rim.

8. Filling
a. The form filling has 2 layers, which must be kept in level
condition when assembled.
b. Bring the form filling inside the cooling tower as shown figured
below.

9. Sprinkler Head, Pipe & Tension device


a. Screw in sprinkler head to stand pipe, completely check that
the head spins freely
b. Set the sprinkler pipes.
c. Tighten bolts.
d. Install center post and tension wire with turnbuckle.
e. The turnbuckles should be located about the middle of the
center post period.
f. Adjust turnbuckles so that the tension device supporter the
weight of sprinkler head, check that pipes are free to turn
without fouling the fan stack.

10. Installation of electro Motor.


a. Install motor frame ass’y on the top flange of casing bell mouth.
Tentatively fasten by bolts.

b. After getting alignment, mount reducer (for LDT 225 &
upwards) and motor on the motor frame ass’y.
c. Set bolt firmly. If necessary, adjust Motor Assy to obtain
correct position in regard to electrical wiring.
d. To confirm that output shaft and Fan hub are clean. Polish
them with emery cloth. Confirm that key fits with fan hub and
output shaft slots.
e. Filling key with output shaft key way left fan into pace and
tighten fasten nut and lock nut.
f. Adjust pitch angle of fan blade according to fan hub
adjustment, if needed.
g. Confirm that fan spins freely.
h. Place fan Guard on Motor Ass’y. Fasten them with bolts.

11. Installation of Over Flow, Suction, Strainer, Float Valve.


a. Assemble over flow pipe on its base at water basin
b. Suction, strainer must be put on water outlet, then install float
valve.

12. Leakage Prevent with F.R.P on water basin and Sump.

Preparation for the Application.


a. After assembling of water basin and sump, confirm that the
inner surface of segment joint are clean and free of burs.
b. The inner surface of segment joint has to keep dry.
c. Materials:
Polyester Resin (PE Resin), Matt and Catalyst.

- Quantity for mixing subject to temperature:
Ambient Temperature 30 0C 35 0C
PE Resin 1 Kg 1 Kg
Catalyst 6 cc 4 cc

- 1 Kg dosage for each mixing is used as the best quantity and


not exceeds 2 kg while making an additional quantity of
mixture is required, should be notice that the PE Resin
becomes hardness in 15 minutes.

- Matt should be cut into pieces of 15 cm for each

d. Instruction for application


1. Apply PE Resin with brush on the inner surface of segment
joint, and the width of 16 – 17 cm should be desirable.

2. Put Matt on the part which PE Resin is applied, then apply


PE Resin again on the matt and pay more attention to PE
Resin penetrated thoroughly on matt.
3. In general, Matt use 3 times unless it has extra necessity.
4. It is best way to apply same segment joint at the same time,
and then to apply the others.

Precaution after application :


1. After finish, clean the brush and body by the thinner.
2. Do not press and touch the place of application and fill the water
in cooling tower until six hours.

Material Precautions:
1. Matt has to keep clean and dry
2. PE Resin should be stored in the shadow place, and lower
temperature (32 0C max)
3. Catalyst must keep away from fire and high temperature.

13.Final Examination
a. Inspect that all bolts are in good condition
b. Clean the surface of casing and water basin
c. I the events that damage, scoring of scratching has occurred
during transit, it may be necessary to touch up the paint on the
metal parts.
