ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine the relationship between learning strategies and test anxiety in
Psychology students at a university in Lima Norte, 2018. Materials and Methods: Type
of Correlational study and non-experimental cross-sectional design. The population
consists of 310 students, the variables are test anxiety and learning strategies, measured
by the inventory of anxiety versus exams (IDASE) and the scale of learning strategies
(ACRA). The SPSS statistic was used and for the correlation between main variables
the Spearman correlation coefficient was applied. Results: The majority of students are
women (75.81%), with the age range of 19 to 20 years (29.35%). Conclusions:
Significant relationship between learning strategies and test anxiety is found, as well as
a significant relationship between the acquisition strategy. On the other hand, coding,
recovery and processing support strategies achieve a significant link with all the
dimensions of test anxiety. Also, the variables age and academic cycle are related to all
the dimensions of test anxiety. The sex variable is only significantly related to
emotionality, and the total scale of test anxiety. Finally, the research provides information
on a latent problem in reference to emotional reactions to situations of academic
evaluation and its impact on academic performance, thereby proposing student support
programs that reinforce learning strategies and management of anxiety before exams.
