WASPORK FAMILY

SOLD ICE
To earn money for school expenses, the three daughters in the Waspork family DAY CREAM PER DAY
decided to open and run a stand selling shaved ice cones near the shopping mall in (PCS)
their hometown of Markay. Their father, Bip, constructed the stand and their mother, 1 42
Krit, purchased the needed equipment. The girls have now been in business for 50 2 30
days. The 50 values of the table below are the number of cones sold each day. 3 26

Using the Anderson Darling Normal Probability Plot I wanted to test the data if it is normally 30 32
distributed or not. I wanted to test the null hypothesis (Ho: No Difference between data 31 50
and normal data). It was revealed that the critical value (P= 0.007) is lesser than the 32 61
value of a = 0.05. Therefore Ho is rejected. The data is not normally distributed as 33 40
represented in the graph below. 34 31

The descriptive statistics output from Excel software is shown below. The table rounds some values.

TABLE 1. SOLD ICE CREAM PER

DAY (PCS) Question:
If they sold 26 cones is it on the right or left side of the graph. How about 74?
Mean 41
Standard Error 1.7146 From the table we have a mean value of µ = 41 cones . Hypothetically,
Median 40 normal curve graph will tell if a we set some critical values within the
Mode 30 x-axis, the middle part of a normal curve is the mean.
Standard Deviation 12.1243 If they sold 26 cones it will represent an area on the lest side of the curve.
Sample Variance 146.9976 On the other hand, any amount they sold above 41 cones lies on the
Kurtosis -0.4880 right side of the curve.
Skewness 0.5730
Range 51
Minimum 23
Maximum 74
