Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

UDL is addressed here because students are able to create their nutrition chart in their own way. They are
also doing more throughout the lesson which includes large group discussions, video demonstrations, and
presentations.

Lesson idea implementation:

To introduce the lesson, I am teaching I will start with an instant activity where students list as many
healthy foods as they can. They will then share them with the class and one person will write the foods on the
board. We will circle the fruits, vegetable, grains, proteins, and dairy products. I will then teach them the My
Plate health standard and how their plate should look. After students have seen how a plate should be
structurally set up, I will show them my already completed version of the nutrition slide on Sway. I will show
them how to create one and then have them check out a computer and start to work on one. Their nutrition
charts will only include foods that reflect things they will personally include into their diet.
After students have completed their Sway products, with a voice over, they will share them with me
through YellKey. During the next class period I will have students present their presentations of their nutrition
chart. I will have their rubrics in front of me and grade them as they present.

Reflective Practice:
This lesson would impact student learning by having them learn through creating. Instead of having them
make a poster they are learning two skills, creating a healthy diet, and developing technology skills. Students
are also learning to submit/ create a YellKey link. To further extend this lesson I would have students chart
their diet for three days and have them compare how they eat to how they should eat based off their
nutrition chart.
