German musician
Beethoven was born into a very simple family in 1770. His mother was almost always sick
and his father was a conductor of an important orchestra. From a very young age he showed
that he was good at music, so his father wanted him to be a genius and forced him to
practice piano, clarinet and organ at all hours. Beethoven had been playing musical
instruments for so long that he hardly visited the school and when he was going he was too
tired to attend, so most of the days his father forced him to stay at home practicing with the
piano.
Many times he had to get up in the middle of the night to play the piano for his father's
friends and acquaintances, who wanted to impress them with his son's talent playing the
piano.
When his father didn't know how to teach him more things about the piano Beethoven was
seven years old, so he had to hire a new teacher for his music lessons. Christian Gottlob
Neefe taught Beethoven everything he knew and taught him the works of Mozart and very
important people. This greatly inspired Beethoven, who admired Mozart so much that he
dreamed of giving him piano lessons.
At 16 he traveled to Vienna to meet Mozart and learn from him, but his mother became ill
and eventually died, so he had to return to Bonn to take care of his little brothers at home.
He did not go to school and his father lost his job, however there were many people who
were interested in paying Beethoven for his musical studies and helped him continue his
career as a musician.
For 10 years Beethoven was able to live on his music, but when he turned 30 he began to
notice that he was losing his ability to listen. Gradually his deafness grew until he was
unable to hear any sound, but still continued to compose music.
He died in 1827 in Vienna.
His work
The first works of Beethoven followed the same form as the classic works of the other
composers, he never dared to use a new element or that he invented.
In adulthood, Beethoven composes works from his own imagination using new elements
that surprised the public and this made him jump to success.
His latest works were never too successful, he used so many new elements and new ways
of composing music that the public was not accustomed to listening to. They are
compositions that only succeeded after his death and are still popular today.
