TERMITE CONTROL
1. GENERAL
1.1 Contract Documents
1.1.1 All work of this Section shall comply with the requirements of the Contract
Documents for the Main Building works with the Drawings, Schedules and with all
other Contract Documents.
1.2 Work Included
1.2.1 Supply and installation of non-chemical, no poison, stainless steel mesh termite
control system at the following locations
a) At all conduit pipe or other service penetrations through either floor or wall
slabs.
b) At all construction joints between wall or floor slabs, or between non-
continuous pours of wall or floor slabs.
c) At the perimeter, ensuring that the paving level is at sufficient distance
below the barrier to allow for a visual inspection zone (minimum 75mm).
1.2.2 All other work, materials and accessories required for completion of the work.
1.3 Quality Assurance
1.3.1 Comply with all typical and/or standard details included in the drawings and
specification at the appropriate slab, slab edges and slab penetrations
1.4 Submittals
1.4.1 Product Data :
Submit Manufacturer's literature.
1.4.2 Shop Drawing :
Show details of typical installations and relation to adjoining construction and
structural support.
1.4.3 Sample :
Submit three (3) samples of termite control mesh system for review.
1.4.4 Indemnity :
a) The Contractor shall provide a ten (10) year Deed of Indemnity in the form
set out in the Tender Documents, against subterain termite infestion.
b) If, in the opinion of the Contractor, the foregoing Specifications are
insufficient for him to provide the indemnity, then he shall allow in his
tender for upgrading the Specifications as necessary to enable him to so
indemnify.
2. PRODUCTS
2.1 General
2.1.1 Materials and components used shall be as specified or shall be suitable
equivalents subject to approval.
2.1.2 Materials not specified shall be of the best quality and suitable for the purpose
intended.
2.2.3 All materials shall be free from any defect that may impair the strength, functioning,
durability, or appearance of the Work of this Section or of adjacent construction.
2.2 Materials

The following proprietary items are to be used in the installation of the non-chemical, no
poison, stainless steel mesh termite control system
2.1.1 Mesh: a marine grade 316 stainless steel mesh made of 0.18mm diameter wire
with mesh openings of 0.66 x 0.45mm.
2.1.2 Clamps: 300 series stainless steel
2.1.3 Parging: a specialised bonding, termite resistant adhesive cement, which bonds
the mesh to concrete, masonry or other termite resistant substrates and supplied
as a two part package.
3. EXECUTION
3.1 Installation
3.1.1 All installations are to be executed by Accredited Installers who have undergone
extensive training in both how to install the stainless steel mesh termite control
system as well as understanding the habits of termites and are trained in the
design, placement and installation of the non-chemical, no poison, stainless steel
mesh termite control system.
3.1.2 The non-chemical, no poison, stainless steel mesh termite control system shall be
installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s published installation instructions.
3.1.3 The stainless steel mesh termite control system shall keep out termites if it is
complete and not damaged. A termite entry point could occur if the mesh, clamps
or parging mix is damaged or displaced. The Contractor shall ensure that there is
no damage to the termite control system or modifications to the design of the
project system.
