Various studies conclude that 80% or more of young
people today leave the church for college, job training,
and all levels of higher education are not returning to
church. Answers to why we are losing a whole generation
from our churches are many and varied, but the number
one reason I believe for this exodus is a crisis of faith. We
see our youth today already questioning their belief
system that has been under direct attack as early as pre-
school. The belief in a Creator God who has “created the
heavens and the earth” as stated in Genesis 1:1 has been
under siege even before they could read this verse. The
belief in evolution and/or millions and billions of years are
reinforced in the educational process as well as all forms
of media, including children’s television shows and
educational shows like “Animal Planet” and “A&E.”
I am a staunch believer that the Bible is the Word of God
and that Genesis 1:1 is unique, the foundation of
foundations, probably the first words ever written down,
either revealed to Adam, or even written directly by God
Himself. One who really believes Genesis 1:1 will have no
difficulty believing the rest of Scripture. This is why I
believe we must teach our children, youth and everyone
of every age the all important truth of the book of the
beginnings. You can’t teach apologetics unless you begin
here. You can’t be a most effective disciple or discipler
unless this is your starting place. To truly be “ready to
make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an
account for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15) begins
here. A firm grasp of Genesis and especially the first
eleven chapters is crucial to bringing back this generation
and to reaching the next generation to come.
I am teaching Sunday evenings on “The Six Days of
Creation” in Genesis chapter one. We will be studying day
two (Genesis 1:6-8) Sunday at 6:00 pm in room 205.
Everyone is welcome.

Senior Adult Trip: September 5-12, 2020. 8 days/ 7
nights. Tours of Portland & Kennebunkport including a
harbor cruise. $900 per person. This trip is now open to
Eastmont members, family and friends. Contact Cheryl
Wells to sign up and pay deposit (Tuesday, Wednesday or

annual Senior Adult Lock-In, and a special thank you to
Lorrie Deal and the Homeless Sleeping Mat Ministry for

SUNDAY NIGHT GROWTH TRACKS
Sunday nights from 5-6 p.m., students are engaged in
one of three available studies. There is room to join this
Sunday. We will begin a new semester of courses
Sunday, March 1. The course offerings and sign-ups will
be posted soon.
DNOW FEBRUARY 14-16
Disciple Now Weekend is coming! This year's theme is
THE PURSUIT. We will join with churches from all over
the River Region for a weekend of worship and spiritual
growth. Please pray for our students this weekend as
they encounter the living God through preaching and
Bible study.
COMPLETE CONFERENCE
Friday and Saturday, March 6-7, Eastern Hills Baptist
Church is hosting a conference for teen girls and their
leaders. The cost to attend is $20. You can register at
the church website by clicking the "events" tab. The
deadline to register is February 16.
MONTGOMERY BISCUITS PARKING
Our student ministry will once again have the
opportunity to work parking lots for the Montgomery
Biscuits during select homestands. Details and available
dates will be published very soon. Working these games
allows families to earn money toward mission trip and
Super Summer.

beginning preparations for The Montgomery Passion
Play! This is an awesome opportunity for our church to
share the love of God. Opportunities to serve from
Choir, Tech Team, Orchestra, Drama and many more.

STUDENT CHOIR
Student Choir meets Sundays at 4:00 in the Choir
Suite. They’ll lead us in Worship Sunday along with our
adults. We’ll get to watch and follow the next
generation learning to serve and lead right before our

Baldwin Baptist Association Student Jam
March 13-15
EBC Student Bands have been invited to bring Student
Jam to the students of Baldwin County churches. What
an exciting opportunity to send out our students to
serve others as they discover new talents, develop
abilities and define leadership. Be in prayer for our
group as they go, serve, and lead in worship!

The Forever Young Choir meets Tuesday mornings at

Guatemala Information Meeting
Sunday, 2/23 at 4pm in Room 110. For anyone interested
in learning about our mission trip to Guatemala Nov. 21-
28.
Spring Missions Yard Sale
Will be March 22-28. Gently used, quality items can be
dropped off following the 2nd service on March 22. Pickup
is available for larger items, but must be scheduled
through Karen Bush in the church office. All proceeds will
benefit the Buckley's in South Asia.
