IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS
I. Objectives
EN8V-IIId-25: Use appropriate strategies for unlocking unfamiliar words.
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. Identify the idiomatic expressions using context clues;
b. Express appreciation of idiomatic expression by giving examples based on personal experiences; and
c. Participate actively in class discussion and group activity.
II. Subject matter
Topic: IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS
Reference: English Time for Grade 8-Third Quarter-Lesson 7 page26-27
Materials: Visual aids (pictures), Manila paper and marker
2. Prayer

Before we proceed with our lesson, let’s have
an activity, I need 2 pairs of volunteers from
the class. I have here jumbled letters and all
you need to do is to arrange the letters to get
the correct word/s. The first pair to get the
correct answer will be the winner.

D. APPLICATION
For your group activity, you need to create a
free verse poem using these idiomatic
expressions on the board. You have to use at
least 5 idioms and a minimum of 2 stanzas. You
can make your group name as your theme for
your poem. (Ex. Singing group will make a
poem about songs, etc.)
I will give you 5 minutes to do your task and
later you will present it in front of the class.
