1. Subtraction - Taking away one nrunber from another.


2. Difference * The answer or result of a subtraction problem is called difference.
3. In subtraction bigger number is always written on the top.
Facts about subtraction
1. When 1 is subtracted from a number, we get the predecessor of the gir.en number.
Exarnple:-2435 - 1 : 2434

2. When 0 is subtracted frorn a number, the difference is the number itself.


Example:-4561 -0:4561
3. When we subtract a nutnber from itself, the difference is always 0.
Example :- 5678 - 5678 : 0

Relation between addition and subtraction


Addition and subtraction are inverse operation. It means that when two numbers are added, we
get a sum and if we subtract any one number from the sum, we get the other number.
