RESPONSE TO WIRING A WEB FOR GLOBAL GOOD

I remember my auntie who was lost from her family for how many years. She left home at the
age of 12 years old. Her family never had any information about her due to out of technology at that
time. Even radio and cellphone they don't have. Until they considered her as dead and losing hope to
find her. For how many years,through technology,her family tried to find her through social media and
unexpectedly,they found out her at the age of 64.
For me,it's a big yes to be engaged on technology though it has a bad sides but it's more on good
sides. Technology is worldwide,and we are able to connect people and letting us to be updated about
our environment. Technology can awaken people to know more about everything. This must be our
source or a way for us to struggle to help our society.
As I watch the video,it talks about poverty that most of the people are suffering nowadays.
Poverty is one of the problems that people are facing now. Through technology,there we can see some
people suffering poverty and even disaster. So,through web,some people can share their help to them.
Sometimes there instances that we don't need to inform the higher position in the government to ask
help because social media is more faster than anything. Especially when taking picture that incident and
post it immediately on social media. And we people as a good citizen can feel there feelings of being that
situation.
I remember again the old man and woman that I read on facebook. They are siblings and I think
they are around 60 plus of age. They are both not married. They don't have any relatives on their place
where they live. The old woman was admitted on the hospital and only her brother took care of her. As
I read it,the old man didn't took meal for almost two days. And in God's grace,there is a concern citizen
who notice them and gave them some money which is not enough for their needs. The man notice that
the receit wasn't buy yet. And the man ask them to take a picture and he posted it on the facebook. And
so many people saw it and help them. That is why technology is very helpful globally.
 RESPONSE TO HOW SOCIAL MEDIA CAN MAKE HISTORY

Social media is very important for us because through social media,we are able to know what's
happening in our environment. It is the ultimate way in spreading information in order for us to know or
to be aware what is about to happen. Social media is very useful and helpful. That's why anyone can
make history through social media.
In the past years,social media is slower than today or has a very big different compared today.
Only radio is the source of an information. But some people also didn't have radio. They were never
aware what is going to happen or what had happened all about especially those people in the mountain.
If they were able to know about news but only a second source. They were less idea about what's
happening in their environment. They had less opportunity to look for a job because of lack of ways how
to find source. They were even like an innocent people.
But nowadays, the world is very hi-tech. Scientists are keep on upgrading technology which is
the reason why people also like upgrading too. There are so many ways how to connect on social media.
Most of the people are able to know about everything most of the time because even cellphone can be
used like a computer. People are able to socialize even in social media. Through internet like
facebook,instagram or twitter. But the most important thing or the ultimate purpose of social media is
to know what's happening our world. We can share our thoughts and ideas or even advices to other
people even we are far from them. Through social media,we cannot hide the thing and not to spread it
because it is the only way to share our feelings or to express our emotions in order to relieve the pain.
That's why social media can make history even in our personal life.

HOW SOCIAL MEDIA CAN MAKE HISTORY

 Firstly Mr. Shirky talks about the media’s revolution and transformed media landscape. The
media has changed a lot over the years. There was time (approximately 500 years ago) when there
weren’t any sources for people to know what was happening on earth. In the middle of 1400’s scientists
invented printing press which got popularity in short time and spread all over the world. After it when
there was another inventions such as telephone, recorder, photo /video cameras helped media to
improve. There were many big changes in media landscape and it developed. But it’s still changing as
the media becomes more social.
As there was problem in social-media-imagesocial landscape with creating conversations and
groups, because the media that is good at creating conversations is no good at creating groups, internet
solve it. Internet is the first medium in history. It had native support for groups and conversation. Now
the groups that listen or see the same information can discuss everything together on Internet. Internet
also has bad sides, for example sometime it can have bad influence in the world.
Mr. Shirky mentioned China’s terrible earthquake. A good example of media, which shows the
danger of using it. When there was a huge earthquake in Sichuan in 2008, it ruined the buildings and had
a massive destruction over the area. That time Chinese people started taking photos and videos of falling
buildings and posted them in social sites. Media published all the videos of that earthquake while the
earthquake was in progress. All information published by the media made a huge panic between citizens
of China, that’s why the government decided to block the internet sites that were globally famous.
Though when someone wants to get news, information or discover new things he or she uses
social media. But all of us must understand and use it in the best way not to make panic or scare, not to
share fake information, because that information which comes out of the media is not always having a
good influence on humanity.

SUMMARY OF WIRING A WEB FOR GLOBAL GOOD

 In this video about many different global issues we are facing, Gordon Brown presents by
showing everyone illustrations about how kids in other countries are suffering and how they are
mistreated. I believe its very sad that no one has stand up for their rights for kids who are in poverty,
being shot, standing up for what is right and so on. Gordon talks about how no one is showing concern
for what is needed and how much people are blind in not seeing what is happening around us in circles.
Also, how these events that we are encountering are going in circles that no one is not taking action for
what is right for what is not wrong to do. It doesn't matter what race you are and what religion you are
but we are a union who are trying to help for a better global world. No one deserves to be visible to the
truths of the events that are occurring because of modern use of the internet is very fast to see
everything that is global now. People are the most important is taking their opinions to the public and
sharing their ideas through the modern communication because its the best way for the government to
see. Also, many people have blog database where they to get talk about their reactions and ideas about
issues they might have to publicize. The modern age has come with great technological innovations since
a century ago when the first slaves came during the slave trade period, people who didn't had the rights
to vote, and the civil rights movement. This was a very interesting video to learn how many people can
be influence by this Ted talk by Gordon Brown on global issues and making the internet a very good tool
to use for the better of the world. Brown wants to explain the great accomplishments that can be had
through the sharing of information through the web, and how it illuminates to people the
interconnectedness of the Earth. He hopes that this sharing of knowledge can help inspire solutions and
urgency for the climate crisis.
