How to Create a Demand Map
TrueCall
1. Run TrueCall heat map
a. RRC Connection Requests [#]
b. Note the Bin Size that you use
2. File -> Export Map As -> ASCII
Notepad
3. Remove top ​two​ header rows (leave third header row)
4. Change 3rd header row
5. Lat,Long,RRC_​CustomName
Atoll + Live
Make sure you opened Atoll icon with Live option
6. Select ​Documents -> Properties
a. In units Tab, set Distance = m (meters)
7. Select ​Parameters​ Tab
8. Expand KPI and UE Trace Parameters
9. Double click UE Trace Mapping table
10. Add a row to this table
a. Name: RRC_CustomName
b. Direction: Undefined
c. Min reported value: 0
d. Max reported value: ​X​ (set this to the max RRC value from text file)
e. Min measured value: 0
f. Max measured value: ​X​ (set this to the max RRC value from text file)
g. Unit: None
h. Measured Parameter: Other
11. Select​ Network​ Tab
12. Right click ​UE Traces​, choose New Connection
13. Select .txt file that has modified headers per above
a. Change Field separator to comma (,)
b. Choose Y from drop down menu for Lat
c. Choose X from drop down menu for Long
d. Choose RRC name from drop down menu for RRC column
e. Click Create
f. You should see black dots on the map
14. Select ​Geo​ Tab
15. Right Click on ​Weighting Maps​ and choose New Map
a. Give the map a meaningful name
b. TrueCall_RRC_​market/cluster
c. Click the Point Weighting button
d. Select RRC option
e. Select Source Tab
f. Check the option for UE trace for RRC
g. Click Calculate
h. Click Ok
16. Right Click on Weighting map that was just created and choose Save As ....
a. Save file in location where you can find to re-import for Demand
17. File -> Import
a. Find file that was just saved
b. Change import location to ​Geo\Demand Maps
c. Use as Value
d. Click Import
How to Import KPIs from ELPT
ELPT
1. Run report at sector-carrier level
Atoll + Live
2. Right click on LTE Transmitters folder -> Cells -> Open Table
3. Click 2nd button on the top to export the file
4. Save as csv file format
Excel
5. Start with Atoll Cells table
6. Keep these columns
a. Name
b. Transmitter
c. VZ Cell Name
d. Delete the rest
7. Open ELPT file
8. Create VZ Cell name format
a. Channel 5230 doesn’t have last “_” and carrier
9. Switch back to Atoll Cells file
10. Use vlookup to bring in KPIs that you want from ELPT
a. eRab Drop %
b. Peak UE
c. DL Throughput
d. Any other that you need ...
11. Save file as csv format with a different name
12. Copy file to Atoll server
Atoll + Live
13. Select Parameters Tab
14. Expand KPI and UE Trace Parameters menu
15. Double click KPI Definitions table
16. Make sure that KPIs you’re importing are listed here
a. ELPT Peak UEs = ​Number of Served Users
b. Call Drop Rate
c. DL Cell Throughput
d. Thresholds can be set here that you want to differentiate
e. Target column is used to indicate whether high number is good or bad
f. High throughput is good, high drop volume is bad
17. Select Network Tab
18. Right click KPIs
19. Select Import
20. Change type to CSV
a. Change Server in drop down to Transmitter Name
b. Ignore VZ cell name column
c. Ignore Cell Name
d. Set Transmitter column to <Server>
e. Set Peak UE to Number of Served Users
f. Set Drop % to Call Drop Rate
g. Assign each column(s)
21. Click Import
22. Double Click table to verify it opened correctly
a. KPIs are colored based on thresholds in table in the Parameters tab
How to color sector pies based on KPI
1. Follow steps ​here​ to import KPIs
2. Right click on Transmitters folder and select Properties
3. Select Display Tab
4. Change Display Type to Value Intervals
5. Change Field Drop down to KPI that you want to use
a. KPIs are at the very bottom of drop down

How to combine predicted RSRP with TrueCall RSRP


1. Follow steps 1 - 15 ​here​, using RSRP from TrueCall instead of RRC Connections
2. Double Click on prediction ​LTE: RSRP - Coverage (0)
3. Select UE Traces tab
4. Check box for ‘UE traces taken into account’
5. Choose Mode as Combine or Replace
6. Check box with UE trace that has RSRP in it
7. Click Calculate

How to show best server coverage based on a KPI or


combination of KPIs
1. Follow steps ​here ​to import KPIs
2. Double click on ​LTE: RSRP - Best Server (0)
3. Click Filter by KPI …
a. Build criteria by dragging & dropping
b. Change AND/OR condition, if required
How to create a Weighted Density Map for ACP
1. Calculate​ LTE: RSRP - Best Server (0)​ with no KPI filters
a. If you’re ACP session is going to use B13 only, you can only run this for B13
2. Follow steps 1 - 15 from ​here
3. Follow KPI import steps ​here​ and make sure that Peak UE (Number of Served Users) is
imported
4. Select Geo Tab
5. Right Click on ​Traffic Maps​ and choose New Map
6. Select ‘​Sector traffic map​’ option
7. In drop-down box, choose ​Number of users from KPIs

8. Click Create
9. Select ​ LTE: RSRP - Best Server (0) ​prediction that was run in Step 1.
10. In KPI drop down, make sure that Peak UE {Number of users (UL), Number of users
(DL)} are listed
11. Click Ok
12. Click Traffic tab of next window that comes up
13. Change CDMA 1xRTT Terminal to 0
14. Change VZ UE - Generic to 100
15. Change VZ 30 mi/h to 0
16. Change VZ Pedestrian to 100
a.
17. Click Display tab
a. Change Display Type to Value Intervals
b. Change Field to Number of users (DL)
c. Click ​Actions -> Shading
d. Change Interval to -50
e. Change Last Break to 50
f. Change First Break to 800
18. Click OK
19. Right click on this new ​Sector Traffic Map 1​ and select ​Create a Weighted traffic map
...
20. Give this weighted map a meaningful name, e.g. ​TrueCall_RRC
21. Select weighting map from drop down menu that you want to use
22. Change resolution to 50 meters
23. Click OK
