W130 Laser
Sensor configuration for individual applications
W130 Laser Photoelectric Switches

W130 Laser Series

Sensor heads and evaluation unit

Highlights
Customer-specific through configuration, small through external laser heads
The discrete construction of optical heads and evaluation unit offers comprehensive
functionality, coupled with small sensor dimensions.
Parallel laser line
The band of laser light 30 mm wide opens up new applications for photoelectric switches, such
as ejection control, parts detection with positional tolerance, belt edge control or size detection.

Highlights
Fan-shaped laser line through lens attachment
A fan-shaped laser line is produced using a lens attachment on the photoelectric reflex switch.
A solution e.g. for ejection control or parts detection with positional tolerance, as well as pres-
ence detection of perforated components.
Analogue output
4 . . . 20 mA for an extended application range, especially in conjunction with the laser line.

The safe application – secondary conditions

Minimum object size in applications with laser line

Signal attenuation is influenced by the min. object size, which is measured by the shadow created
by the object, on the reflector. The minimum signal attenuation should be > 3%. It can be easily read
using the measurement value displayed.
A minimum object size from 0.5 mm (depending on the selected response time, menu item 2.2)
results for the WS/WE130L “LINE”. The light distribution along the laser line is not linear and de-
creases towards the edge. If objects need to be securely recognised across the whole width of the
laser line, a minimum object size of > 1 mm is recommended.
For the WL130L with lens attachment, the degree of shadowing is as shown in the “Minimum object
size” graphic, depending on the distance of the object to the sensor (a), the degree of coverage of the
reflector (b) and the object size (c).
Alignment of the WS/WE laser line
Secure operation of the WS/WE130L “LINE” requires accurate alignment of sender and receiver.
Tilting in relation to one another can significantly weaken the signal, hence the sensors must be
aligned within a tolerance of ± 1.5°, and vibration during operation must be avoided.
Switching behaviour
In addition to the standard switching behaviour for photoelectric switches, the WI130 has a second
mode (Inth; see menu item 3.3) which, in conjunction with the laser line, offers extended evaluation
options.
