Education:

Education is the process of acquisition of knowledge. It is process of training also. Education is

derived from two Latin words: EDUCARE which means to nourish, to bring up, to train, or to
mold out. EDUCERE means to lead out, to lead forth, to draw out.

There are two types of education:

Pre-school education

Formal school education

1: PRE SCHOOL EDUCATION:

A) Montessori

The Montessori school philosophy is based on the work of Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian
educator, who founded the movement in 1907. The underlying idea of Montessori is that children
are individual learners with teachers as guides. Children participate in a variety of hands-on
activities. Play materials are designed for specific purposes, which guide the child’s playtime.
The sensorial area in a Montessori classroom focuses on lessons and activities that help develop
the five senses: seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and smelling. Teaching Your Child Grace
and Courtesy Good manners are essential in a Montessori education. Along with being
respectful towards others, a child who has good manners is more confident and has higher self-
esteem. They are also able to develop happier and healthier relationships with others.

B) Kindergarten:

It is a preschool educational approach based on playing, singing, practical activities such

as drawing, and social interaction as part of the transition from home to school. Such institutions
were originally created in the late 18th century in Bavaria and Alsace to serve children whose
parents both worked outside home. The term was coined by the German Friedrich Frobel whose
approach globally influenced early-years education.
