The Parables of Jesus

The Persistent Woman

Based on Luke 18:1–8.

Jesus told this parable to teach His followers that they

should always pray instead of giving in to discouragement.

In one town, there was a judge who didn’t revere God or

respect the people of the town. A widow kept going to see
him, pleading for her rights.

For a long time the judge didn’t want to do anything to help

her, but he finally grew tired of her persistence and helped
her, worrying that she was going to wear him out!

Jesus then explained, “If even this very selfish judge was
eventually willing to do the right thing, don’t you see that
God will hear the cry of those who call to Him for help and
will quickly come to their aid?”
