Oral production activity unit 4

Topic: A restaurant in town

Dear Students,

You will participate in an assignment of making a video about your favorite restaurant in
town.

Here the steps to complete the assignment:

Step 1:
 Go to English Discoveries and read the article “New Mexican Restaurant Open in Soho”.
You can find it in Unit 4 – lesson 2.
 Do the exercises from Practice resources in Unit 4 file on Blackboard.
 Go to Community on English Discoveries. Choose Talking idioms. Find these idioms: “get a
bite to eat” and “for a song” at basic level. Read the definitions and the examples.

Step 2:
After following the instructions in Step 1, think of a restaurant in your town and prepare a
script describing your favorite restaurant in town.
Talk about:
• the kind of food served & dishes it has
• the prices: how much the food costs
• furniture and decorations it has
• when the restaurant is open
• the location/address

Step 3:
Stand in front of the camera and record yourself in a video telling us about your favorite
restaurant in town.
Practice several times before recording the final version of your video.

Sample script:
There are lots of restaurants in my town, and I think many of them are really good. If I want a
bite to eat or a good meal, I usually go to Don Mamino. They have good desserts, drinks, coffee
and a variety of fruit juice. They have delicious salads, too.
